So after this carrot tells us the story of what went on at this track . He finished the practice but decided that he needed more practice for this track. As this track was very technical ( that means difficult to me ) he decided not to do this race.

Our neighbors agreed that was probably best policy. But all is not lost . He was able to move is entry to next month’s race so he does not lose any money . The next track is more open we were told and that might be to his skill set as of now . Now getting hurt or possibly getting hurt is silly . He now knows how he needs to train for today’s track . And we had a great day .

about social distancing , if I don't know you and your not a hot chick , if your standing within 2 foot of me we are going to have a problem . never liked to be crowded . so maybe one positive is to teach people to respect others space unless invited in....
to me people you met and talked to just acted normal , and just naturally spaced themselves out according how much they new someone.

now Carrot completed the 7.2 miles of track ,what concerned him was a couple of sections that were very steep going down and very steep going up the other side . he made it , but thought he needed more practice to handle a section like that . he described it as a 50 to 70 ft drop then climb and then there was a couple more (he didn't talk about them like he did the first challenge ) there was also lots of logs to cross and he did but again thought more practice in that area would be a good idea.
he will live to fight another day.

P.S. of the 2 races and tracks we have been to this year , Revs was a track more suited to Carrots level of training and riding ability , more wide open track . Zars ranch that he rode yesterday was technical and narrow and again more difficult .

That 690 is a nice piece of gear!! I dare say even more versatile than my Beta for cross country travel. With those tire that bike could go just about anywhere!!

it is a nice bike . my neighbor Richard has owned a husky 701 before this bike so is very familiar with all aspects of the type .
so my neighbor Richard has at least 3 bikes in his garage at all times . he is a well known Texas dual sport rider(Trail Boss ) who organizes dual sport rallies around Texas and Mexico . he has a few help books and guides that he has written and sells (I have seen them in dealers ) about places to ride in Texas and Arkansas and Oklahoma .... has a web site Texas Adventure Rider .... and is an all around good guy. he bought this 690 and immediately sold his KTM 500 exc within a weeks time (never seen anyone sell a bike as fast as him ) . he has a list of farkle's he is adding to the bike (yesterday was pannier racks ,bark busters and MRA windshield ) . he is leaving for a big bend rally later this week ,about 120 or so will be attending . his current bike ownership list is , KTM 300 XC , Honda Africa Twin DC , and now the 690 . he is already talking about buying another bike and selling the Africa Twin (fully farkle d ) immaculate and extremely low miles ( I think I know why he sells so fast ) . rarely does he keep a bike longer than 2 years . as for me bikes are a more long term experience as my pockets are not as deep but I do know will get to ride his bike at some point so that is a plus about being his neighbor . and sometimes I do ride with him. good neighbors are hard to find. I'm lucky.

I'm with you Terry. I run my bikes into the ground. Sounds like you got a good neighbor who takes care of his bikes which is good.

I knew a guy once that was pretty well off and bought a new KTM 300 every year. He pulled the stock plastic and put cheap plastic on. He ran it hard with no air filter change, no gear oil change, and left the jetting stock. He would slap a paddle on it and use it in the dunes as well. At the end of the season he would clean the air filter, change the gear oil, slap the new stock plastic on and sell it for a good price then repeat.
