Heard back from Knight design and IF they determine they can make a redesign it won't be until late summer. So I went ahead and ordered the existing model and will see how much I would need to shave off from the side stand wing. I might look at aftermarket sidestands...

I have 15mm lower SW Motech foot pegs and decided to take the rubber toppers off. I ran into the problem of not being able to lower the shift lever enough via the adjusting rod running out of thread. So, I made a 9/16” longer rod using a 6mm threaded sleeve cut to length and a short length of 6mm all thread to allow lower adjustment of the lever…..all is good now. Long live the ever handy Dremel tool.

I can report back on these, they make a world of difference. At 6'1" I can ride 500km a day easy with these pegs. Currently the kickstand clears the footpegs, but when the pegs fold up, they don,t clear the kickstand (once kickstand is up). So as long as I don't drop the bike on the left side I should be good, but will probably end up grinding part of the winglet on the kickstand so that everything works properly. This combined to the flat seat mod combined to a 35$ ebay air cushion, it made it one of the most comfortable bikes I've ever had. Once I get the suspensions modified, it WILL be the most comfortable bike I've ever ridden.

Here's a clearer picture of the kickstand. As you'll notice, I think they got a bad batch of rubber or something (they already started cracking), so they'll be sending me the metal peg tops to replace these. Overall, still extremely happy with this upgrade. Haven't scraped them once (190lbs and I ride with preload set to 2up + luggage even when I'm solo without luggage). Just makes the cockpit so much more comfortable.

I'm 6'8" tall and ride a 2012 Super Tenere, and I regret missing most of this conversation.

I use the SW Motech Ion pegs and I like them a lot. I've searched high and low for years and have not found an option that will get the pegs any lower. I believe the Ion mounting kit for Gen 1 XT1200Z was discontinued a few years ago, so they may be hard to find but it seems there is still support for 2016+. I'll be surprised if that kit is any different from the kit for older 1200's.

One thing to note about the Knight pegs - I think the 32mm drop they publish is a bit misleading. I ordered the "Wide, Front, Lowered 1-1/4 inches" with "Trakker tread" and when I received them it was apparent that the drop was about the same as with the SW Motech Evo pegs. If you run the Motech Evo without the optional rubber top pad then you get the same drop as with the Knight with Trakker or Hunter tread. There may be other reasons to choose the Knight pegs, and there may be more of a distinction if you compare both brands with the rubber treads installed.

My biggest issue is that my bike is street-parked in Brooklyn, NY and it's been laid down about ten times over the years thanks to careless parallel parking neighbors. The pegs are the first thing to contact the street, and I don't think they're folding the way they were designed to do (or perhaps they were not designed to fold if the bike is not moving forward when dropped). The steel frame is bent on both sides where the pegs mount. Shops don't want to try to bend it back because it's a lot of labor for something that might not work out, and they're afraid of doing more harm to the frame. I think it's a huge miss from Yamaha having the pegs mounted directly to the frame in this way.

Yes I think the knight pegs are more like 1" drop than 1 1/4" based on the top you choose, but overall, it was still the best upgrade I did to the bike. I did a 1300km day on the bike and I don't think I could have done that on any other bike.
