My bad, I get it. Poor guy just needs to get away from all this. Not my cup of tea during this crap. But after all, I'm not the one asking about a nice place to ride.

Might I suggest if you want to get out of state, do a desert run. Now is a good time for the flowers to bloom. Might not be a super bloom but it will still be nice. The air is fresh and a lot less traffic. Right here in CA you can go through Mojave, Lucerne, and even go up and over the mountains in the same day. There is a huge combination of backroads and paved that you can spend a few days on.

In UT/AZ there is a vast network of thousands of miles of trails called the Arizona Strip. Here is a map of Moab/AZ Strip/FT Worth loop. If you zoom in I see there are a bunch of paved back roads and Jeep roads you can explore right from home.

Holy crap, it still blows my mind every time I look at Texas on a map!! It's on my bucket list to cross the state of Texas on the 10 in one day. It's pretty much an Iron Butt at over 900 miles!!
I think we might see a superbloom in the California desert this year. They have had more rain at Glamis this year than in the past 6, and possibly the past 20. The hills around Boulder City are covered, and on the drive out to Nelson, NV there were flowers everywhere! It's also been cooler than usual this spring, so the weather is just about perfect...

I really miss doing rides out of my parents driveway in Boulder City. They lived right up the hill by the hotel/gas station on the left. I used to take the Big Horn Sheep trails right across the street to the power line roads from the Gold Strike (now Hacienda). I would then head out to Nelson Hills, State Line, Lake Mojave, etc. What a nice area to ride!!!

Well....it looks like a trip is going to be a (no go.) I've checked campgrounds and nothing is open. I need this trip to be away from things, relaxing and just not having to (think) and/or problem solve. But with what is going on....too much to think. Some trips are supposed to be an adventure or unknown and even challenging. Just not right now. Different places are doing things differently with regards to this situation. I respect that and "get-it." But I just don't want to keep up with the changes and have to come up with contingency plans on the spot. Come to think of it...guessing most places are like around here....in that most essential businesses that are open; the bathrooms are closed (understandable) The Governor of Texas is talking about opening some things back up in the next couple of days. I don't want to be on the road if that happens and I personally think it's too early.
Right now tentatively I think I'm going to do day trips. I'll bring camping gear with me in case something pans-out...
FennelG---give me a heads up when you are going to ride the Natchez Trace Parkway...Love that part of the country and it's on my radar for retirement.
Spklbuk-- I do bring a daypack or 2 with me on trips for just the very thing or if I hike or if I leave camp to ride.l

How about this? Post up the direction where you want to go and see if somebody here has property you can camp on. Kinda like the camping version fo couch surfing.
This is a fantastic idea! Given the current circumstances, especially for folks looking to get away on a little trip but stay within the confines of their own state, maybe we should start an official thread? Not sure what info would be necessary, perhaps a general description of where your property is located (nearest town/geographic area) so that interested parties could contact you privately for specifics such as GPS coordinates and time frames?

Just thinking out loud here.....
