What do fellow Tenerians think about these new ‘gone viral’ panniers?

My ES has no panniers as of now. Leaning towards shelling out $$ for these. Thinking of going for a 31L+38L set + the frame.

You've seen the Mosko Moto ones? They're $400.00 dollars less but a max of 35L. The large Lonerider ones are massive! The advantage of the Mosko is that the bag locking system allows the entire bag to be removed in seconds and is a metal clasp. You then carry it as luggage. The Mosko inner bag does not have any straps so advantage there to the Lonerider ones. Mosko doesn't have the inner foldable support frame but I don't see that as a drawback. The outer Mosko bag is not totally waterproof but it is coated with something on the inside. The outer is a heavy Cordura or something and can retain water. In the couple of hours of rain I've been in it dried in about an hour or less of riding at freeway speed. Some guys on ADV Rider have complained about the stitching but I think they are fairly abusive of the product. Maybe not. As for a rack I highly recommend the Rumbux rear rack although it may not work for hard luggage if you switch to that in the future. It is not so much a rack as it is a rear crash bar. It is absolutely as strong as an extension of the frame.

I've been looking at Mosko Motos as my fall back option.

Might have been easier to lock down if they would sell a set of left side smaller - 30 or 31L with right side 35L to allow for the left side exhaust .

You don't need a smaller left side for the Mosko. The 35L and any other size would fit fine as the muffler is inboard of it all. Looks like the Lonerider one would be the same. It uses the same style clamps as the Mosko but doesn't have a separate frame sheet that stays on the bike. If you don't need the larger sizes of the Lonerider I'd get the Mosko. Much better deal and very well made.

Ouch indeed! I could pay a sherpa to carry my crap to the next place for that kind of money. I like flexible luggage, but not that much.

The folks I know with the Mosko bags love them and I've seen two which have slid down the road under a bike. They use real Kevlar in the out bag and neither wore through the inner luggage. You do need to use a steel locking cable for security though.

I'm getting a set and will post here.

I had a friend with MoskoMotos and they didn't fare well, they needed surgery from these guys:

Bags like these make me kind of embarrassed when I'm prowling through an army surplus store looking for rucksacks to repurpose....

I ended up going with the SW_motech Dakar semi rigid panniers ~$500) and am very happy with them, they fit really well, the frame that they mount to is very unobtrusive when the panniers are not on the bike and the panniers seem extremely rugged and very well made. For the money they seem a really good deal..

Are they the "Blaze" model? I liked the looks, but didn't see Tenere fitment. I may have had the wrong model bag.

Is there a way to secure (i.e. lock) them to the bike?

I don't see any obvious way to secure the SW_Motech Dakar to the bike. You cant lock the panniers closed so anyone could just open the bags and take what is inside! I guess you could put a padlock between the bag and the carrying frame to prevent the panniers being stolen from the bike, but they are NOT really secure..

My LoneRider’d S10.

Happy with the bags. Biggest peeve - as opposed to Metal Pannier - is the inability to ‘secure lock’ the panniers to the bike / frame. But all my riding is in US and around North Georgia so this is not a big concern.
