I'm in the middle of changing some things around. Going to have bikes on both the 'heavy' and the 'light' end.

So in addition to the Super T, I've added 'little blue', a 2013 WR250R.

I'm planning to update this with the little adventures.

Day 1 - Getting used to a new bike.

So offroad, up a small mountain, and then into some floodplains.

Meet Little Blue

And we went up to the lookout

Good times

After that, it was down to the flats (a lake that is part of a reservoir, normally flooded, but drained in the spring as meltwater will soon fill it back up)

Photogenic too

Great location

Day 2 - single track

Literally the next day, my buddy Jerry swung by, we loaded up the bikes and headed out to one of the local mountains where he's a member of the dirtbike club.

I'd never ridden single track and he showed me around, starting with some green trails (slow going, be warned)

After a while there, we tried one of the blues

Bit slippery and wet, made for good practice

Some more video after I said "enough!" as I was wiped out

Dirty bikes, fun times!

I dig my WR250R. Amazingly versatile bike. I used it for commuting for a year and put 3,000 miles on it just doing that. Now it's more trail oriented. Need to change out the shock oil and show it some love this year.

Number 3 (not really 'day 3' :) )

Michelle and I went out to get her and her DR200 some 'dirt time'. Back to the 'mud-flats'.

A couple of photos from Michelle this time:

I'd gone racing ahead but saw the water in time (we came from the other side of the last photo. Two guys on new KTM 890's (really, didn't the 790 just come out KTM?) were on waiting for me to go crashing into the water. I think they were a bit disappointed I didn't ;) We chatted for a while and I was able to give them some tips for going up the mountain.

We played around for a while, but man, it got warm in a hurry. Time to shed some layers:

After watching a Jeep get stuck in some deep mud, and seeing the caravan of trucks and jeeps heading into the flats, we headed back out, being a touch more careful on the 10+ km gravel out due to the number of vehicles.

Good times :)

I'm behind on updating Little Blue adventures as I've been planning adventures for Big Blue (it's going to be in the Kootenays in July :) ).

Michelle, Jerry and I went out to test out his new bike (Versys) which we'll be taking for our road trip in July. So we did some twisties and some gravel

Things went well and I think the Versys and Super T will pair nicely for what we have in mind.

We're also taking more little 'adventures' together, which is easier when I'm on a 250 and Michelle is on her 200, instead of me being on the 1200 cc big bike.

Of course, it's still important to go 'push-on' a bit as the brits would say. So, last weekend I went up as far as I could. Whish the camera didn't flatten everything out so much. I'd been behind some quads & side-by-sides but they were going so slow that I kept having to stop (and not making space).

If you look carefully, I had to put a rock under the kick-stand to keep her upright and still, she almost went down.

On another spur, I'd just gotten across a water crossing when ...

I mean I couldn't see a path through (there wasn't one).

Surprise watercrossings can make you take your eye of the 'road-ahead'

Beautiful spot though:

The previous pictures were taken on the other side of that little hill (I rode here to gain some perspective ;) )

Thanks for the likes and the positive comments!

In the latest ride this week, I Little Blue went up a rather steep and lonely mountain. There were no tracks that seemed recent, so I was very on my own.

Got to here and the last climb after was a bit intimidating (no photo, sorry), so I turned back and found a nice spot to rest up for the ride down, stretch, take off a layer and enjoy the scenery.

One of the small specs on the lake below is a powerboat, it was amazing how much the noise of the motor echoed between the hills

Waterfall left, snowpack right.

The view from the other side of the 'ridge' I was on, with a different lake. Those of you who do this kinda thing and also take photos may realize just how much the 'road' drops away ;)

I think it was on that stretch of road where a riding buddy looped his KLR a few years ago and managed to get it upside down & backwards into the ditch trying to get up the hill. Good thing there were two of us at the time to get it right-side-up.

At the bottom, I went back to the 'mud-flats' (see above photos) except when I go there, the path was blocked

... and the mud-flats were once again under water

The reservoir was completely full once again, ready for summer.

I took a short break to have a fig bar. Those little cheap seat mats come in really handy when you're taking a short break and your seat is 'rock-hard' ;)

A great days riding :)

Great photos! I ride a wr250r as my second bike to the S10, and absolutely love it. How do the trial type tires do in the mud?

I thought they did OK, but was down to 10 psi. I don't have a lot to compare to yet.

I'm still debating on the next set of tires, for the riding I do I think that 244's are in my future (again) as I ran them a lot on the KLR and they are much better on the road than the trials tire.

Big day yesterday with Little Blue, went out and rode with a guy who had done a lot of trials and motocross when younger. WRR did well compared with the 690 (except for the highway ;) )

Some photos (will work on the videos later this week)

Stopped along Bench Road first, horrible after this as a grader was working and it was extremely soft with big loose rocks exposed

Then up Chipmunk to the snow, thought we'd get to the parking lot up top, but still too early in the season

Beautiful day

Then up Tamihi where we were getting rain on fairly hard

Awesome day of riding.
