Tatooine (its real hot here).. no really Kent, UK
Personally I read reviews, watched videos, talked to dealers, read more reviews, searched YouTube, more reading, ya get the drift.....Finally though enough is enough and now I just want the bike. The level of info that's out these is never ending and growing by the day, for every positive there is a negative and for every negative there is a positive.

Read as much as ya like (all at the click of a button) or better still try and get ya self a test ride.

I'm planning on going to the IMS in Dallas. Hoping they have one there and allowing demos, at least a look see.

I called Yamaha Customer Service this morning, 10/29/10, to ask if a S10 would be at any of the shows. The rep made a call to someone in corporate but could not get an answer.

Kwoo, did you look at some of those links and videos?
I have been a member of ADV Rider for about a year and have read all I could find there on the S10 prior to comming here. My reason for posting the link to the "pamphlet information in a spread out form" was because I had not seen anything on ceramic composite cylinder bores or overiding the YCC-T by mechanically closing the throttle and a few other details in other posts. If it was I overlooked it.

Time now to get on the KLR and ride to the Blue Ridge Parkway and West Va. for a few days berore it gets too cold.

Ceramic cylinders is not new for Yamaha. I have an 08 WR250R, here is an excert on the specs for this bike:

Citing that the demographic doesn’t desire a tightly wound motor with cramped service intervals, but rather an effective engine requiring minimal maintenance, Yamaha endowed both models with a purpose-built powerplant to meet the latter criteria, while also gracing them with modern technology such as titanium intake valves, a ceramic composite plated cylinder, high lift cams, a newly designed 4-valve cylinder head and a short skirt aluminum piston. The engine also has an oil jet located beneath the piston to minimize piston temperatures.

Ceramic infused cylinder liners on alot of Japanese engines are nothing new. The cars use them I have heard, which in turn makes the wonderful machines go for hundreds of thousands of miles.
