Me too!! Every year during riot training we went into a room and was tear gassed. All of us removed the mask and were forced to take deep breaths. it was brutal!!

BTW, I was raised differently than most. I was taught as a child not to make in fun of others less fortunate than myself. Other kids thought teasing, bullying, and ridicule was funny. I did not like it then and still find it appalling now.

It's unfortunate more and more grown adults have a dismal and contemptuous persiflage when making posts.
Agree with you, by the way the offenders do this to make themselves feel better.
Tear gas larchmar or however you spell it is very nasty, I know.

Humans, wear your mask. You want sobering facts? I already knew about this from previous procedures when I was awake. It is very uncomfortable. This is written by a nurse who works with ventilators.

"Here you go folks... for those people who don't understand what it means to be on a ventilator but want to take the chance of going out without a mask...

For starters, it's NOT an oxygen mask put over the mouth while the patient is comfortably lying down and reading magazines. Ventilation for Covid-19 is a painful intubation that goes down your throat and stays there until you live or you die.

It is done under anesthesia for 2 to 3 weeks without moving, often upside down, with a tube inserted from the mouth up to the trachea and allows you to breathe to the rhythm of the lung machine. The patient can't talk or eat, or do anything naturally - the machine keeps you alive.
The discomfort and pain they feel from this means medical experts have to administer sedatives and painkillers to ensure tube tolerance for as long as the machine is needed. It's like being in an artificial coma.

After 20 days from this treatment, a young patient loses 40% muscle mass, and gets mouth or vocal cords trauma, as well as possible pulmonary or heart complications.

It is for this reason that old or already weak people can't withstand the treatment and die. Many of us are in this boat ... so stay safe unless you want to take the chance of ending up here. This is NOT the flu.

Add a tube into your stomach, either through your nose or skin for liquid food, a sticky bag around your butt to collect the diarrhea, a foley catheter to collect urine, an IV for fluids and meds, an A-line f to monitor your BP that is completely dependent upon finely calculated med doses, teams of nurses, CRNA’s and MA’s to reposition your limbs every two hours and lying on a mat that circulates ice cold fluid to help bring down your 104 degree temp.

Anyone want to try all that out? Stay home and wear a mask when you go out! Stay safe and well!"

Don't like, but thank you for sharing the reality of this disease and the treatment.

And in about a million less words,I was also not picking on you....just making a general light hearted joke.

Didn't think the skin was so thin in a motorcycle forum, though.

After reading OX-34 last post I see no harm in Trump taking hydroxychloroquine. I believe I saw him (Trump) wearing a face mask in yesterday's news. Perhaps the drug has some enlightenment properties. I should get me some of that. Bunker Biden is 11 points ahead of Trump by hiding under a rock.

Chris I was only making fun of your logic. I like to call it PURsy-Flage. I even used one of those little funny faces like this o_O.

Who said anything about picking on me? Making "lighthearted jokes" about ANYONES handicap or death is atrocious and horrendous. I'm as thick skinned as they come. There is no reason whatsoever for that kind of adolescent behavior in private, on a public forum, or otherwise. Maybe I'm asking too much. Are we not all grown adults? Acting like 12 year old kids in a schoolyard serves no one.

Wow a new twist in the Covid-19 lockdown. Up until now, mine and fellow Americans President Trump has regularly engaged the subject of protecting people. In the beginning; Jan 15 2020, the first Covid case was identified in Washington state and the same day presidential impeachment articles were delivered to the Senate. It failed and now the curtains being drawn back on a very nasty conspiracy involving FVEY intelligence activities to spy on a campaign and current presidency.

Meanwhile, “The Experts” lead by Neal Ferguson of MadCow Fame cast the dark shadow of impending doom and 2+ million deaths in the US alone.

The administration with “expert” input laid out guidelines for public safety. These guidelines went to state governors and varying levels of tyranny were imposed upon the populous. Sadly, many are woefully informed regarding the root document that makes us unique in World government. To supplement and fully express application of these foundational human rights we have the US Code of laws.

The Constitution has been trampled upon under guise of providing and protecting the public. Freedom is paramount and with it lies individual accountability and responsibility. Freedom of religion is in our 1st Amendment and many governors have decided forbidding religious assembly trumps constitutional rights. Chicago Il has gone to the point they installed barricades and blockades to prevent access to churches.

Today, our President Trump ordered that churches be opened for services in all states. The press went nuts and you would have thought he had taken a dump in the punch bowl at the annual correspondents ball.

Reporters demanded to know where he thought he had the authority. Our President said the governor’s could call him but they aren’t going to like the answer.

Reconcile governors actions and US Code Title 18 section 242. Governors have authority...but not to trample on the Constitution.

TNRyder and others -

Getting into politics either way again means this thread will be shut down for good.
PERIOD

It is hard to not have strong beliefs about the current individuals in politics and you will not convince anybody through a motorcycle forum that "your" side is right. As much as seeing a post like this makes me and will make others want to fight it will just be an inflammatory circle-jerk and become a lose-lose for everybody.

DROP IT.

politics and Covid 19 are joined at the hip , you cannot talk about one with out the other . if the politicians had not politicized this so called pandemic I would agree with you Cwrecks . but that's not reality . they did and here we all are . healthy debate was the American way , when it gets to a place of name calling , then chop away with those big scissors . every one has been touched by what the politicians have done to America , some have been touched by the effects of the virus. we should remember all our experiences are different , but we can learn from sharing what we see and feel and understand about all of this . there have been 35 million deaths from the 'AIDS" pandemic since it came on to the world stage and its still killing people . no lock down with that one. this morning I learned my great aunt Dorthy died , she died of being 102 years old . seems odd that seems not normal after the historical propaganda blitz we have all been subject to since march. (thank God she didn't get the virus). if our nation survives, in ten years this will be like everything else that attacks humanity , you will barely give it a passing thought .

Very well said Terry. It is very difficult to not bring politics into the discussion. I have decided to stick to the facts, science and common sense. I honestly feel really bad for all the world leaders in this situation. They have to rely on medical experts and economists both to find a working medium in order for both the world economy and human health to to survive.

It is hard to keep politics out of the discussion, but there's a not so fine line between discussion about facts and going straight to assertions and dragging in distraction which clearly inflame others to gain nothing.

Assertion:
"Trump has regularly engaged the subject of protecting people."
There are numerous recordings of him to the contrary.

Distractions:
"presidential impeachment articles"
"conspiracy involving FVEY intelligence activities to spy on a campaign"
Those have nothing to do with the subject

Assertions:
"varying levels of tyranny were imposed"
"The Constitution has been trampled"

Distraction:
"US Code Title 18 section 242"

Revisit the ground rules about playing well with others here. Go elsewhere for the fringe left OR right points of view.

Yes, well said...its a balancing act the economy vs. the health and well being of the population.
The repercussions of a closed or stalled economy will result in absolute disaster
On the other hand, open up the economy too soon or quickly, there's an obvious downside as well.
Sorry, but I don't have the answer.
I just ride ride ride.
Oh Super Tenere how I love thee.
Did some gravel roads today, stopped and turned off the TCS and into S mode.
Man will this thing throw rocks.

As for something useful and back to what the thread is about, here's a brand new fact-based study released TODAY by The Lancet about hydroxychloroquine use with 96,032 actual patients.

Background Statement:
Hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine, often in combination with a second-generation macrolide, are being widely used for treatment of COVID-19, despite no conclusive evidence of their benefit. Although generally safe when used for approved indications such as autoimmune disease or malaria, the safety and benefit of these treatment regimens are poorly evaluated in COVID-19.

Interpretation Statement:
We were unable to confirm a benefit of hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine, when used alone or with a macrolide, on in-hospital outcomes for COVID-19. Each of these drug regimens was associated with decreased in-hospital survival and an increased frequency of ventricular arrhythmias when used for treatment of COVID-19.

In other words, it won't help and may kill you or give you serious heart problems.

Yup, every ride is an adventure, but always weight risk and reward.
Sounds like you are concerned for your safety and you are a smart man.
So, can I toss my two cents in here.
Definitely get some crash bars, they ain't gonna prevent you from a crash, but at static drops or low speed fuck ups crash bars will protect your bike.
Now, you....must wear full gear ALL of time, no matter how hot it is.
Wear a high viz riding jacket or a high viz vest over your jacket.
Install some additional lights on your bike to give the cagers additional opportunities to see you.
Never trust a cager...cause they are not looking motorcycles.
Finally, and last but certainly not least, check the weather forecast
Cagers don't maintain their cages, read windscreen wipers and in rainy conditions it's hard to see a rider.

Hope this helps...SHUMBA

I'm not sure.... I think somebody mentioned it. Oh yeah, it was you:

Chris I agree that sticking to the "facts, science and common sense" is the best way, which is precisely why I posted about 1 example does not 100% science make. I thank you for that. Please limit the science to the science, not the pseudo-science and please limit the calling of pseudoscience 'science'.

Gotta love a knobby tire, though. All nice and thick skinned. Lets move on.

*********************************************************************************************************************************

With all of the jibber jabber about 'right', 'individual rights' and a piece of paper with its many amendments of contradiction, I think that some observable blunders have been made. LAHTS of blunders, frankly.

Despite what was clearly jetting and sailing its merry way around the world back in January and snotted its way into north America early this year a monumental amount of jumping up and down for the right to jump up and down has not been the best approach. Neither was saying 'its 5 cases, its the sniffles, we have it under control'.

Washing your hands, not touching each other, keeping a 6' distance, staying home and watching TV or tooling around the house, wearing a mask when and where appropriate, and implementing an effective testing regimen that actually has purpose would have been a fine and dandy approach. Wasn't done properly, can't say it was. Didn't happen. Uh-uh.

Instead, 28000 more people tested positive yesterday in one country alone - the USA. And by that I don't mean 'tested positive toward negative' like a sharp-minded Sharpie-wielder, I mean positive positive, that kind of positive. They got it. Got it good.

I hope that everyone who jumped up and down demanding a haircut took that into consideration when they donned their best camo molle attire and said 'just a little off the sides'. I guess they thought it was ok for those 28000 to GEDDIt.

Please just stop whinging about having to stop the spread and stop the spread, will ya?

Just out of interest i would like to ask what are peoples opinions regarding how Englands handling of this looks to you ?. Im not so much interested in the politics and science but more how the people in charge have carried themselves and what impressions they have made on you. I say England and not the UK as i live there. I wont find offence in anything said but would appreciate your honestly.
