And don't forget to wash your hands. ;)

I think our community will help each other out if someone is in need. We have guested people on the road in the past many times and it's always a good way to meet new people or share with people you know.

Hey, what's the idea of sending Tom Hanks to Australia and bringing Coronavirus? Was that planned? Haha

What is the atmosphere like around Hollywood? The girlfriend and I have tickets to fly into FLL on Wednesday afternoon (Mar 18) but things seem to be escalating quickly over the past 48 hrs. We might just cancel and wait for another time...

Its same as 3 days before hurricanes. People doing lines for water and now toilet paper. People driving like crazy (yes even more) but airport is empty. There is more people at one walmart than at the airport. But people still all together in small places. The point is to get toilet paper than try to not get corona virus. My wife traveled to south america and im very worry about get back in. She is trying to change the flight ticket but airline wont pick up phone.

7 billion people in the world , say 100k plus have tested positive , odds are your pretty safe . man made attempt to panic people . just for grins and giggles , malaria and other mosquito born disease kills a million people year in and year out...... you have better odds to win the lottery than to get this c19 bug and to die from it.

It’s not the sickness I’m worried about at all, it’s the masses of people doing exactly what deftoner has described and other silly things. Don’t get me wrong, I’m 100% advocate of being prepared in the event of an emergency and have contingencies in place at my own home for natural weather events, power outages and such - but the population these days react out of fear rather than common sense.

The waste majority of people have nothing to fear from Covid-19, but a minority who catch the virus needs hospitalization and in some cases intensive care.

We have passed the point where stopping/limiting the virus is an option. Now it's all about slowing down its spread to give to healthcare system a chance to keep up.

I'm wondering if the preventive measures that have been implemented all over the world end up causing more problems/damage in the long run, than we would have seen, if we simply had let Covid-19 run its course..?

The fear of catching COVID-19 is creating a bigger economic problem. All the events being canceled and schools closing snowballs into new problems, like child care for all those kids that aren't going to school and while some companies are having people work from home, that doesn't cut it for a very large number of people. And many times those people that have to go to work are also the ones that can least afford extra burdens on their funds. Some colleges have been forcing students to leave the dorms. Not everyone can go 'home', so what happens to them?

The Dr's in Italy have been reporting that most of the people that get bad enough to go to the hospital are already suffering from pneumonia of a type that damages the lungs and it's generally a downward spiral from there. The reality seems to be that most will only have minor symptoms for a short time, but the smaller percentage of severe cases will be more fatal. Especially for those already compromised in some way.

I'm one of those directly impacted by Covid-19, and no, I don't have it. I have worked in the meetings and events industry for the past 27 years providing audio visual support, (hence my screen name), with the last 6 being on my own freelancing as a master video tech. With all of the cancellations and bans coming in, I have basically seen my business wiped out for the next 3 months or more...I haven't seen a reaction like this since 9/11. The meeting and event industry contributes trillions of dollars into the global economy, and easily reaches into the hundreds of billions of economic impact in the US. Regardless of what happens with the virus, the threat of recession is very real. Right now, I'm scrambling to find any work I can to try to stay afloat...

Man Bryan that sucks!! I honestly thing that instead of taking smart steps toward prevention and spread of the virus, the general public and government is going into panic mode and shutting everything down. I am got a text from my mechanic and email from my physical therapy office yesterday lining out what they are doing to prevent this virus.

I work at a major medical center and we have a few cases in the area... I am not concerned. Don't freak out its not the end of the world but don't ignore it. Reasonable precautions, if you are elderly or otherwise immunocompromised then you should take this much more seriously. The greater impact won't be deaths but the disruption to commerce and the world economy. Large outbreaks will strain the healthcare system as we are seeing in Italy.

Wash your hands and avoid large gatherings if possible...

2 hours ago our prime minister announced that from noon tomorrow and until the 13th of April our borders will be closed.
No Danish citizens can leave the country and no foreigners can enter unless they have a special reason to do so.

I'm practically in house arrest in my own country. This is some crazy shit...

Ouch. Really sorry to hear about the cut in income.

This shit's too close to home for us. Had dinner a few nights ago at the Mother In Laws' retirement village, only to learn the next day that there were 3 confirmed cases where we were, as several residents just got back from a cruise before becoming symptomatic. She's 86 and I'm mid-60s. While we are pretty healthy, we are in the wrong end of the age thing for this so it is troubling.

Plus, the ex just showed up at the sons' BD party and has to hug everybody, including the 7 month pregnant daughter in law. And oh by the way, turns out the ex got back from a medical mission trip to Latin America. Never one to display great balance or common sense, for the last 2 weeks she's been confined with lots of people there, in the airports, and on airplanes, yet insisted on being with us. Self-centered F-ing moron is a nurse no less!

My wife had a Bahamas cruise scheduled with her Grandmother, Mother and sisters.

That didn’t look too good so they were going to go to Disney world for the week instead.

They closed Disney down, and I have one depressed wife.

The bright side is she will be refunded all her deposits or they can go on a cruise in the future with some significant upgrades.

Today was real strange!! Went to get bottled water and toilet paper. 7 different stores and the shelves and isles were bare. No wipes, paper towels, toilet paper or bottled water in 4 of the 6 stores. Finally got toilet paper at some oddball name store "Grocery Outlet" waited in line for over 30 minutes to checkout. I then went to Walmart and found water. They took off the normal price for the cases and are charging 1.00 per bottle. I stocked up on over 200.00 worth of water. Keep in mind this is what I normally get every month. And it's only about 60-70 bucks for the same amount. Walgreens had water limit 2 per customer.

Less than a week ago we did a normal shopping run. Sams Club, Walmart, Kroger. Today the wife decided I needed to go get some things we were a little low on. Paper Towels, Pork chops, ground beef, cheese, etc.

The vibe shopping today was hugely different. Much more stressed and lots more people. People were stressed and frustrated at the lack of items they wanted. Salted butter was out in 1/4 lb bricks, so I got a 1 lb brick bunch and we cut them down later. Paper towels, which were plentiful at Sams a few days ago, along with TP, were stripped bare. Water was low, but on hand. I had to back track to Kroger for paper towels and people were buying TP like it was currency. 8, (4 roll), packs at a time or worse. No reported cases of Covid-19 here yet, but there are in Memphis, about 90 miles North and that's the major international airport, so lots of people fly in there, then drive home to Tupelo.

Ground beef was also getting hard to find. Zero at Sams. bought some at Walmart w/o issue. Milk was running low at Sams. Got to wonder what people are doing with 10 gallons of milk that only has a fridge life of a couple weeks or so. o_O

We buy bulk anyway, so don't usually buy more than fresh veggies/produce on a weekly basis. Way too many millennials stocking up on frozen entrees.
