Humns are doing it to themselves. The masses especially in large cities are nothing more than lemmings that believe any crap they see on useless social media. It's not the virus that's affecting everyone including the economy. it's fear mongering news outlets and the herd mentality. Humans are so stupid.
The news really affects my mother in law. She has stage 5 Alzheimer's. She gets all worked up over this. I think it's too much worry over something not critical.

Why are people hording bottled water? There's nothing wrong with tap water and it will keep flowing.
because they lack the brain cells to figure that out. That's the honest truth.
Tap water in my town while safe tastes horrible. I've been purchasing bottled water for many years. Tried to go with purifier but they are a pain. Good news is my refrigerator is filtered but takes a long time to fill the cup.

I'll be up tomorrow at 0500 to try again at the stores and yes I will stockpile as much as I can. I'll end up sharing it with friends and family members who have a hard time getting it.

What's strange is alcoholics have it made. The stores are loaded with booze with no shortage in site. Same with Heroin, Meth, Coke, Weed, and any other drug. Plenty for all!!

It's the same here in the UK with people buying toilet rolls. It's not a "sickness and diarrhoea" bug but people seem to think toilet roll is a must have item. Not sure on the logic of that one.

A status report from Denmark:

Besides the closed borders I mentioned earlier, the following have been set in motion:

All schools are closed.

All public buildings are closed.

All restaurants (except takeaway) and bars are closed.

All cinemas and theaters are closed.

All gyms are closed.

All events (sport, concerts etc.) are canceled.

All churches are closed.

Use of public transportation is restricted/regulated.

It's not allowed to be gathered more than 100 people at a time. All gatherings are discouraged.

You are not allowed to visit people in hospitals or elderly homes.

All non critical health Care is cancelled/postponed.

There is no shortage of anything in the stores as import/export/transport of goods isn't effected by any of the restrictions. It's vital for the government that it stays that way.

NB. No one is shaking hands or hugs anymore.

The authorities can enter people's homes without a court order and detain/treat anyone with the virus if they don't follow given advise.

I don't think the issue where the police can enter our home, was approved. They still nedd a judge to approve it.
And about the missing toilet paper:D, it apperently depend on where you live. In my local REMA1000 near Roskilde, there haven't been these part the last 3 days.
Toiletpaper
potatos (and most other vegetables)
wet wipe
And not much meat in the cooler

But they are supposed to get it back next week.

But I also heard that the hording is mostly a Copenhagen issue, so it makes sence that you haven't seen it.

You are right about the point that the law about entering people's homes have been cancelled. I've edited my post.
I talked with a police officer today, and he told me that the law got cancelled because the police can already do that when necessary, under the current regulations.

Some shelves were empty initially, but now most shops have been resupplied - and will continue to be so.

stopped at local Walmart a couple days ago, had to laugh the row that normally has toilet paper was completely empty except for a few rolls of paper towel on one end. I believe a lot of those hoarding folks won’t be buying toilet paper again for many years ! I’m sure in a week or two walmart will have plenty of toilet paper on the shelves again.

The only people not complaining about panic buying of toilet paper are the CEOs of the companies that make the stuff! We can't get long life milk now, only the weird sh#t made from soya. Looks like the cows are shelf isolating...

What is alarming is how dependent everyone is on our current system. What if something really serious happene, like a catastrophic earthquake, which would disrupt your water supply? Your distribution supply? Your gasoline supply? No electricity?

We have become so ingrained with entertainment, sports, theater, etc. in reality those things are trivial for true survival.

Toilet paper? I have a bin full of shop rags AND a washer. Imagine how mankind survived before the disposable diaper.

Fortunately I always keep several weeks of top shelf toilet paper on hand. Never skimp on quality shoes and quality toilet paper for a good day. And I have a fresh bottle of Evan Williams bourbon and some too potent hemp product for the when the sky actually falls. In two weeks I motor over to Romney for a new Super Tenere and Kodiak. I'm looking forward to empty roads and gas stations for the trip. And if the wall street thugs actually continue with their hysterical farce I should be able to pick up some good buys soon. I once thought only my fellow citizens were dumb, facing the fact that the average American is really average but it appears the rest of the planet suffers from the same affliction. Morons. Now, to get over this nagging cough......

...Milk was running low at Sams. Got to wonder what people are doing with 10 gallons of milk that only has a fridge life of a couple weeks or so...
I don't agree with the insane panic buying but milk freezes and rethaws later very well without adverse taste. I've been doing it for years as can never time finishing the gallon with my schedule for leaving on a multi week ride or trip.

As far as toilet paper is concerned I really hate using it anyway. 100x prefer a spray hose and soap (Asia style). Who here wipes or scrapes their teeth instead of brushing?

I think it's tough to keep these posts positive but let's try :)

The panic buying is crazy, and unfortunately it seems to feed on itself. We made a grocery run this morning (it's the weekend) and bought a few extra things. The store (Canadian Walmart) announced that they were limiting TP, sanitizer and tissues to one (carton / box / etc) per household.

Which seemed odd at first, but when I thought about it, that might just be the way to go. Keep the few people that are freaking out from starting a shortage.

Though, as Alfred Henry Lewis stated in 1906, “There are only nine meals between mankind and anarchy.” Covid-19 seems to be bad, but peoples reaction will make it truly dangerous.

When you look at what you should make sure that you have on hand, soap seems to be the first thing, but there's no run on soap. So go figure.

I do feel for all the folks that are impacted, financially and of course those who are sick. It's going to have a longer term impact, especially when considering that the goal right now is to spread out the infections over a longer period of time so that each countries health care system can manage without being too overwhelmed.

Not sure where you are finding information, I've found this to be a handy site (and they list their sources, you can go find the raw data in their blog as well): https://informationisbeautiful.net/visualizations/covid-19-coronavirus-infographic-datapack/

Hope you guys stay safe out there. It's a cold and windy weekend (freezing temps) so my SuperT is currently stored for winter, but I'm hoping that in the next few days it'll warm up so I can take advantage of the lower gas prices and go for some rides :D

Got to try and catch the upside of things!

I am one that fits into one of high risk categories, 60 and nigh on my 61th with in a month and have type II Diabetes.
I do have a few factors in my favor in that my diabetes is well controlled (A1C in the mid 6's for the last 4-5 years), I live in a rural somewhat location and do not frequent many large gathering locations (concerts, bars, etc.).
My work as a IT Technician does occasionally take me to our local casino, restaurants and other public business'. I have been given the option to work from home as my work could largely be done from there. I have so far decided to stay at work but should there be an increasing number of local cases testing positive COVID-19 I will re visit the option of working from home per our company policy.

I've been watching two maps:
https://gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6

And this one that give more specific locations. More info links on this page too.
https://data.pnj.com/coronavirus/

I'm taking normal precautions, but not letting this change my daily activities. My wife is higher risk, smoker, over 60, history of bronchitis and pneumonia, but is basically healthy. I'm low risk. She's a little more bothered by all this and it's hard to get her to go out right now.

I suspect that when the stores re-stock after the recent surges we are seeing, some of the anxiety will drop off as people see that they can still go to the store and buy things they need.

The sun is trying to come out today and it's forecast to get up to 77F, so I'm going to go track down the highest point in Mississippi and ride there. It's an epic 807 feet (246 m) above sea level, so hopefully I won't be too out of breath when I get to the top. ;) LINK Might have to hike the last mile in depending on road conditions.
