I have 3d printed light covers from here.
Will these lights work with them?

Will the ballast fit inside the extended cover? It looks really big.

They don't go into the headlight, they don't pass between the bulb and the bulb opening. They are not “ballasts”….in that box there are some capacitors, which are used to trick the ecu that they test a burnt bulb (the S10 does not do it)……

Link to file for 3D file?
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2413145

Mine ended up a little bit "loose" which I corrected by running a layer of electrical tape to the threads on the caps. Fit good now and stayed in place through a lot of washboard miles and no water ingress despite a lot of those miles in fabulous Vancouver liquid sunshine... According to my 3D print shop, they could have reprinted to make the print ever so slightly larger as typically print threads need some tweaking from original files due to material and printer tolerances. After the tape I found them fit for purpose and decided not to waste $ on another print.

General notes from website:
Summary
A headlight cover to suit a Yamaha Super Tenere XT1200Z.
For use if you have a larger than normal light globe, such as a LED H7 with a heat sink on the back.
You will need to remove the rubber o-ring from the stock cover and fit it to the printed model.
VERSION 2
V2 has been slightly tweaked to account for shrinkage of ABS, and has also been made shorter to make more clearance for the forks. In addition I've also added a logo.
I'd recommend downloading and printing the shorter version "TenereCoverV2KC" as the tall model will likely hit the fork, only use the taller model "TenereCoverV2Blank" if your globes are exceptionally large.
Print Settings
Printer:
CTC 3d Printer
Rafts:
No
Supports:
Yes
Resolution:
.02
Infill:

Notes:
Printed with a brim of 4 shells and 1 layer.

I bought these to give them a try, as they are the same size as a standard bulb and don’t require an extended housing as there is no fan on the end. Hoping I don’t have any heating issues

Auxbeam H7 LED Headlight Bulbs, 6500K Cool White 300% Brighter Halogen Replacement LED Bulbs, LED Fog Lights DRL Bulbs, IP68 Waterproof Quick Installation, NF-Q10 Series, Pack of 2 https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0921FNRJV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_0M0Z7WFJHWTCFD579AJP?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Yes. Amazon lists reviews for all different bulbs for this brand (not just the H7), so there is a mix of reviews to wade through. For the most part the H7 reviews were decent. Not much different from all of the others I’ve read.

You should know that there are more powerful lamps, in power and in lumens. the ones you bought consume 22w each, there are 36w and 60w each….and that power is directly proportional to the lumens…..and to heat generation too, that's why these lamps you bought don't use a cooler , because they do not generate much power. That is why it must be that they clarify that the application is like fog lights….

Thanks for pointing that out! I misread thinking they were 44watts each. I haven’t installed them yet, so looks like maybe I’ll be returning them….I was hoping they would work since they wouldn’t need a new cap.
