I just have to say that Victor is a stand up guy! I emailed him a little while back mentioning that one of my caps didn't seem to fit tightly. He got right back to me and mentioned that he would send another one out. Well...sure enough....not one, but a pair of new caps show up! What a great guy. He can't be making a ton of money on this so definitely think about giving him some business.

Thanks again Victor!

All,

So it turns out that the second set of caps that Victor rushed to get me was before he redesigned them. The second pair didn't fit my 2014ES as well as they could have. I shot Victor an email and he sent me out a pair of the newly redesigned GEN 2 caps. As they say, third time is a charm. These fit great! They lock in to place very similarly to the factory caps.

Thank you again for all of your persistence and super tenere community and support!

Hello everyone! Or at least all that are following this post :D

Since a lot of people asked me for this and mine cyclops leds died a long time (half dead, one led from one lamp just fell off), I was contacting led makers or at least led sellers with led with some brand on it (not just generic leds) for weeks now. So I will get 4 or 5 different leds options for the S10. Do some testing and come back to you with the result. I was even thinking to ship with the caps the leds to made the things even easier.

Anyway I will keep you posted! :)

Ok guys!! I spend 4 hours testing led lights and primary comparing them with the expensive Cyclops leds. I will try to keep this post short so I will just focus on the best led and the comparison with it.
I had the cyclops for 2 years now, but around 1 year, one fan went off, they claim at the website that if the fan goes out the led still work without problems. Not the case, on of the led died. (click on image to enlarge)

So I started my research on affordable led with not moving parts and if they don't have the led driver outside the lamp will be even better. And I found one:

This led has the driver INSIDE the led base, and has no fan. It get hot but not even close to the temperature of an halogen lamp.
This led can be regulated to face any direction (despite the position of the fitting H7 Base)
Facing right:

Facing Up:

Always with the base at same position. I could get something like that with cyclops but forcing them and sometimes the got loose.

It took me like 30 minutes to remove one of the drivers from the cyclops since they fit on the side of the light housing, and they got hot, probably they melt a little bit of the plastic.

Not the best thing to test bright on a camera, but for an idea:
Left of the picture is the New Led, right the cyclops (the full working cyclops that I have)

This led has no polarity, so you can connect it back. As I read several times, S10 optics are complicated... I play with the led and this is the best that you will get (with any led). On this led is just facing up.

When installing it you should leave the cable far from the dissipation, the caps has space for it.

And another commor error, the H7 base at first looks seems to go UP, but NOT, it goes at 7.30 like in this picture:

Hope this helps a lot of people. I tested 6 led lights, most with external led driver and 3 with fan. Two models where exactly as this one, but one cheap. And you can definitely see the difference on the lumminens. So by far this led are great. I paid for them 52 U$ I'm talking with the manufacturer (Is here in the US) on how many I need to buy to get a discount. People that still want the caps may be I can even ship them with leds included.

THANKS FOR READING :)

Always remember, the shiny part up :)

I had problems with 3 cyclops bulbs too. I'll never buy another one. As much as they cost they should have a LONG warranty. Cyclops rep admitted to me that they had a problem in the XTZ and sold them anyway.

Now they are charging 175, but when I bought them were 240 :p Crazy.. My hate for that overprice and being the only options was the push to design my own and make them for this forum.

Thanks for taking the time, I'm sure like me lots of interested parties. I have yet to fit my caps as I need to take the bike for a vehicle test and it would not pass with non-E Marked certified lamps.

In north Louisiana where I am. They only check insurance and registration. I got one for a bucket truck that was illegal as hell. My brother has an inspection station in Baton Rouge that has to check everything except headlight aim

Tests here take about 2 hours for cars and about an hour for bikes, they go through everything, I mean everything. The cars even have to have engine bay and chassis underneath cleaned before inspection or it could fail simply because the inspector cannot see the parts........ sorry for the diversion

Several states in the US do the same inspection, specially California and I think new york. Here in florida you can drive anything, if it have seat belt and "some" lights.

Probably someday they will put you a ticket for USING the blinker or not using the high beams... since its state sport here, use hazard lights on highway when rain, not using blinker and be all day with high beams or even led bars

California inspects for emissions compliance every other year for cars older than 4-5 years, but there's no mechanical condition or safety inspection since the random pop-up roadside inspections the CHP used to do were eliminated years ago. They do inspect any vehicle that has been returned to service with a salvage title, but my experience with a salvage motorcycle was that they were far more interested in the origin of the parts used for restoration than any safety issues. Of course you can be pulled over and given an equipment violation by any LEO at any time. In my experience that's rare though.
