Laam Seat Disappointing

I don’t know what is going on with Laam Sears but it isn’t good. Short version, order seat same specs as one he did for me in July 2015. Not a problem he has drawing, I’m next in line. 3 weeks later no seat even shipped. I start calling asking about it and next thing I know I have a seat on the way. He calls says new seat is a slight redesign with more comfort. Great news. I get the seat and it is more than a slight change. Totally different than what I ordered. Feels like I’m sitting in a hole on a board. Passenger seat the same. I feel like may have been a seat ordered and no payment was made so it was boxed up and sent to me to shut me up. I go on his website to fill out order to return for modification. Guess what, button to click on doesn’t work?? This has been going on since 7-23 and no response in text, email, nor phone calls. Ridiculous. Won’t happen again cause there won’t be another order. If this is considered inappropriate then delete it.

Seth Laam seems a popular choice in the US; sensibly priced & easy enough to access if you live on the West Coast. However, across all the forums I frequent it is clear that the guy, something of a one man band I understand, struggles when it comes to time keeping & customer communications. Some say he is bedevilled with ride-in business, others think he takes on more work than he can handle. None of that helps you right now, although a quick browse on the internet could have alerted you to these issues beforehand ......... yes I know, hindsight is a wonderful thing.

In your case the order has clearly been confused with someone else. How did you pay - credit card?

Could maybe TS Custom in Fayetteville sort you out?

Not sure what I’m going to do right now. You are correct on being alerted beforehand but when I bought a seat from Laam in July 2015 it was a smooth transaction and the seat was very comfortable, that’s why I wanted another seat built the same way. I didn’t expect it to be exactly the same, close but margins for differences, the seat I received was not even close to the previous seat. Yes, paid in full when shipped.

If you can't get any satisfaction from Laam you should definitely give TS a try. He has made five or six seats for me and they were all good.

I would file a claim with your CC company, you write a letter they research it & refund your money.
It really sucks to having to deal with crap like this. I ended up with used Russel day long from a forum member and worked out great.
Good Luck

Update....Sept 23 will be 2 months waiting for return production date, still no return calls, text, nothing. Button for return approval still doesn't work. Not all is well.

From Laam Seats website:
Adjustment Request Form

You will be contacted within 2 business days to discuss the request and, all being well, organize a shipping date.

+ 1 on the CC claim. Had to do that, he had returned seat and I received money back from CC so not a loss. Not sure if too much time has passed for claim for you however.

I met Seth Laam last week when my friend and I did a ride in and he got a new seat on his Tenere. he was very amiable and made a great seat for my friend in a short amount of time. the price was great and the seat was quality...
