Knocking sound at high revs after Clutch Plate Replacement

I recently replaced the clutch plates set. The bike rides perfectly but I can hear a kind of knocking sound when accelerating on an incline. There is no loss of power and the sound is low and only remains for a second or two.

This was not there before. Any idea how to diagnose the issue?

These clutch set up’s these days (last 20-30 years) are very exact and run very tight tolerances. In my head currently, there might be ten things to, look, check, confirm, and double check. The only way to look at all of this is to pull it all apart and confirm everything is exact. If your going to dive in again, you can reach out and we can talk about “the list”, probably from easiest to hardest.
Good luck

Another interesting thing during assembly is if…you submerged the new discs in oil and left them for a while (disarm time) before assembling?….this helps a lot to prevent premature wear…

I am all for it. I’ll get IB touch with you once I get to it.

You say that you started to feel the noise "after" you changed the clutch discs... but "just in case"... and before disassembling the clutch, check the driveshaft u joint... when is broken or dry... Manifests as a knock when accelerating or decelerating….and later the vibrations appear
