Well my Jesse luggage arrived on Friday. It arrived in perfect condition, credit a first rate packaging job and proper handling by the UPS folks. It was easy to install with the excellent instructions that were sent via email. Having the intructions before the luggage arrived was a big plus, making it easy to plan the installation. I ordered the QRDP thinking it would be great for quick changeovers. The QRDP is a slick design and I am glad I ordered it.

The attachment for the paniers is strong and makes it easy to adjust the bag positions fore and aft, and make it easy to remove the bags from the bike.

The silver bags on the black bike look great.... pic s attached.

My hat is off to the folks at Jesse for desiging, building, and supporting such a fine product. Hurray for made-in-USA!. ::012::

Looks good, what's the installed width?
Thanks. The width accross the outdside edge of the panniers is 37.75 inches. In the frontal view of the bike, you can see the panniers are barely visible. I have them mounted so that the passenger hand holds are still usable. But if you do not care about passenger hand holds, you could make it a bit narrower. Also, I have the panniers in the most rearward position to allow full access to the passenger footpegs. If you don't care about passengers using the footpegs, the panniers could be moved forward about 5 inches.

My passenger is a little over 5 feet tall and weighs a little over 100 pounds. So setup like this we have lots of room for rider, passenger, and gear.

Happy travels!

Mine are have already taken a beating. Apart from dropping it in the sand, I dropped it again a bit later when my foot slipped on some off-camber gravel. They will take the weight of the bike crashing down on them...

This is the east coast of Baja - which, BTW, Al Jesse suggested as a good route to take. Thanks Al :D

Happy Holidays!
We are going to be physically closed between Dec 21st (end of the world day),
and January 2nd, 2013. We've been running a 10% off special on all in-stock
Odyssey II luggage systems untill the end of the year, and we will continue
to honor that. Alycia will be checking emails untill we reopen. Email us
at info@jesseluggage.com before midnight Dec 31st, 2012 if you want to
take advantage of this end of the year discount. I'm 100% sure that prices
will be going up in 2013.

This is cross posted from my ride report
http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=5583.0
I thought it might be of interest here...

If you've been following along you will have seen this picture from Mazatlan, where I dropped the bike on a curb. The bag took almost the full weight of bike and gear.

There didn't seem to be too much damage apart from a crease in the front of the bag, so I didn't remove it until I went riding some dirt roads outside Oaxaca, 2000 miles later. I didn't notice anything untoward, but when I put the bag back on, I notice the alloy plate that grips the two rails on the rack, was only grabbing the top one. The lower one was off by a few mm. Some fiddling around with the crank handle and removing and refitting the bag a couple of times didn't correct the situation. I came to the conclusion that "something" had bent in the fall, but I couldn't determine what. Oh well - it had been that way for 2000 miles (or so I thought), it could stay that way until I got a chance to pull things apart and see what the problem was.

I continued the ride across the mountains, and a couple of hundred miles later, this happened...

Lost a Jesse bag!

When I refitted the bag after retrieving it from the ditch, it went back on perfectly! I don't know what the problem was with the clamp mechanism earlier, but must have been "operator error", and was the cause of the bag falling off.

Apart from some scratches, the bag is hardly any worse for wear. The ding at the front is from "the Mazatlan Incident".

DCStrom, would you happen to know the measured width installed? Did you leave the stock grab handles or take them off for a closer fit?

I took the grab rails off. (I believe Jesse has some replacements now?) The bags are a tad under 36", narrower than the handlebars, and I could get another 1/2 inch out of them with some messing around; happy at 36 though.

few questions.

i have the 10" odyssey II side bags on my tenere and am looking to add a top box.

is an odyssey top box available or would i have to go with the more rounded safari top box?

are the top boxes permanently mounted or do they come with the quick release setup?

can the top boxes be mounted in either width or length wise, or just width wise?

im assuming you would have to purchase a kit to re-key all to the same key?

I too am looking at potentially adding a Jesse top box to accompany my Odyssey bags. I have all the above questions plus:

I have an AltRider back deck (the old style). Will the Jesse top box mounting plate match up?
