Yep, Just Another Fscking Waiter. :D

Intro... Hmmm, well I've been riding on the street since I got back from Okinawa in '83. Something north of 300k miles since then. The last 150k on my '04 FJR1300A that I ordered under the PDP, so waiting is not a new thing. Did a tour with Uncle Sam's Misguided Children, worked in the firearms industry for a while, ended up working for Stanley Works for ~20 years as a machinist. Manual and CNC mills/lathes and associated other shop equipment. Semi-retired and moved from Oregon to Southern Utah to get out of the rain and be with my fiance.

The SO is riding a fully pimped out '11 F650GS twin and doing the IBR this year, but wants to go Far North in '12. I've been pushing the limits of the FJR's abilities for a long time and bouncing rocks off the pipes. Darksiding helps with traction, (I'm the instigator of running car tires on the FJR, btw), but clearance and bash guards are needed and the Tenere looks like it will meet my needs. I've been very happy with Yamaha for the last couple of bikes, and no so happy with BMW designs after spending too much garage time working on the SO's GS. Too late for the PDP window on the ST, but am going to see if I can pick up someone's canceled order or one of the few remaining shop ordered bikes out there.

I do LD riding and endurance rallies and have been for a while now. Rode 11k in 10 days last year during a multi-day rally. Have a few of those IBA certs in a drawer too. The Feej runs a fuel cell and has a 500 mile range. I've been all over the US on that bike, including the four corners. She might not go away when the ST shows up, but you never know. I can see a fuel cell for the ST in my future though. Going to have to sell my Big Dog to pay for the ST, but I'll ride the ST a heck of a lot more. ;)

Enough rambling for now. I'll try not to piss in anyone's Cheerios for a while, but I can have strong opinions based on my life experience.

Eric, welcome! You sound like you have plenty of those "life experiences" to share. Feel free!

11k miles in 10 days? You're my hero. Wow.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Darksiding FAQ here: http://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php?showtopic=124275

Got my deposit down on a bike ordered for the owner of a local shop today. MSRP, but got the 4 year YES tossed in at least.

Fuel cell, or IOW, a second fuel tank mounted on the back of the bike, plumbed into the main tank with a bulkhead fitting. In my case, gravity feed. There is a valve and fuel filter on the feed line as well as marine dry break fittings to allow removal w/o spewing gas all over.

Not the best pic, (Dam Tour pic), but you can see the cell on the back where the passenger seat & stock rack would go. Huge flat bed load platform, (now has a Pelican 2620 Storm case on it). Would love to fab one up for the ST with some added features and fitting that bike as well as this one fits my FJR. And fwiw, I did NOT make this one! I wish I was that good. ;D

So, where do you stand on 'gun control'? O:)
 Hitting your target is good. Beyond that, another forum is where the rest of that conversation goes.
