Hi folks.

Not an owner yet but after spending last 3 years with my FJR1300 I'm starting to feel the itch to make some change. I had an BMW R1150 GSA in the past and that thing was crazy comfortable but always had something that needed attention. FJR is a great tourer and has some addictive power but lacks that straight up position of and ADV rig. I know ST1300 is more upwards but I'm allergic to Camry and it's motorcycle counterparts. I'm mostly commuting with max 3 multi-day trips per year, up to 10k miles per year with few outliers.

So it's pretty much down to S10 or the gen2 Vstrom 1000. Looking to read and educate myself to make up my decision not only on the looks but also based on knowledge. To be seen how it goes.

Cheers!
Peter

I traded in my St1300 for the “other” ST. So far I’m enjoying it. Shaft drive is the way to go. Lots to choose from. Good luck in your quest.

Welcome aboard. Lots of owners here from the FJR community, including me. We also had both versions of VStrom and the Tenere feels a lot like a refined bigger Strom.

The Tenere was designed to be the Yamaha version of the GS.

Welcome offwegoagain. I would have to argue the Tenere was designed to be the Yamaha/BETTER version of the GS.

If a bike was as comfy as your old GS and as reliable as your FJR, would it fit the bill?

That is pretty much my understanding as far as S10 goes. I test rode one about 3 years back right after I got my FJR on a Yamaha day and it kind of felt that way as far as I can recall. I definitely need to refresh that experience.

One of the many reasons it's on top of my list. So many folks make this transition back and forth or have them both - it kind of feels like the right direction to go just because of that.

Welcome from the east-side foothills!

Can't go wrong with a Tenere but I wouldn't get rid of the FJR either. Each compliments the other quite nicely.
