Perhaps it is a broken shift spring?
I was thinking the exact same thing.
One of the top "prong" could be bent or broken off, affecting your down shifting.

Maybe so, but I don't understand how it only has issues in certain gears, which is really making me scratch my head at the moment

I chased sticky shifting for two years, before I found the solution was Liquimoly 15w40 synthetic. Took 10 different oil changes before I tried that brand and weight, solved my issues.

Still gotta clean and lube my shifter pivot once a month though. Gets a lot of crap on it around my area.

My DP04 has been having this issue ever since I bought it 70'000km ago. All tricks (bleeding clutch hydraulics, greasing axle of shifter, clutch lever fully extended) did not help. Only thing that helps is a quick increase in engine revs with clutch pulled and the gear shifts smoothly down. Upshifting is smooth always. This is IMHO related to the clutch drag. Nothing I could change ever, just got used to it.

Not saying this is bloody eye's issue, but you can usually fix clutch drag inexpensively by taking out all the plates and rings, cleaning them with solvent, and re-assembling with fresh oil. Note that it is easy to miss taking out the inner-most one.

I had downshifting issues with my 2012 after purchasing it with 40K miles. I did all the easy fixes first but the final fix was replacing all of the clutch plates...Maybe some steels were warped i didnt check.
