I'm looking for a pannier rack. Ive heard good things about happy trail and sw motech racks. tusk pilot racks look like a great budget buy with tusk mount/quick release.
Yamaha XT1200Z Super Tenere standard and X-Frame pannier racks by Outback Motortek deisgned for hard and soft panniers to haul luggage and fuel storage.
Happy Trail makes a very robust rack; I've used them for over 100,000 miles at this point with no issues. They also sell a mounting kit that you can use to attach panniers.
The racks are pretty easy to adapt to different types of luggage. I have both hard and soft cases for my Super Tenere, both of which use the same HT racks.
I have the "Bumot" Racks and Panniers on mine.
Very stout system!
I purchased both the Hard and Soft cases for mine. Both use the same Racks, and are all keyed alike.
It's one of the more pricey options, but they are way up there in quality...........
I also optioned for the Tool-Box that mounts to the same Racks, also keyed alike with the Panniers.
Do not support Outback Motorteck / Altrider and any other company that doesn't support our T12 anymore - I bought Outback Motorteck crash bars and skid plate combo (skid plate has not been installed yet got it over the Christmas break ) the right crash bar did not fit had to get it installed by my mechanic (he had to pry it a little for it to fit) Also the customer service on their behalf and the one from Dual Sport Plus was atrocious.
Support the smaller players that continue to make products for our bike !
I'm also a big fan of the Outback Mototek system.
I have the Musko moto bags and for off the grid riding you will find it hard to get better. They will take one hell of a beating.
Though I do prefer my hard panniers for road trips over off-road excursions.
Happy Trails racks with Nelson Rigg bags. HT makes a backing plate that attaches to the Rigg bags so they are solid mounted to the racks. For hard panniers its hard to beat Tusk for price point quality.
