A little bump for this with a question.

How do you make up a switch for this mod ? As I have just had a fuse in.
Mine could not be any more simple. 1 switch with about 2 inches of wire hanging off each lead. Tin the wires. Stick them in. Double side tape the switch right under the horn. Done. Just make sure you always start the engine with the clutch pulled in. Never been a problem.

I would only use this mod briefly to see the difference in low down power and not run the bike hard with the mod in place.

It is now a known fact the ignition is massively advanced on full throttle and could do serious engine damage if run hard like this for an extended period.

I know AVC8130 posted details on this a long while back (not sure where that post is now) and CJS Racing who did my Flash a while back told me exactly the same, of course anyone can do what they like with their own bike, but you need to weigh up all the facts for yourself.

This is the exact wording from Chris at CJS:

people who do the clutch jumper mod are in danger of engine damage with 50 degrees of advance at 100 percent throttle

Sounds good, though I'm still not sure how I'd fit it.
unplug the plug from the clutch bracket, insert the matching plug attached to the switch into the clutch lever, insert the original plug into the socket attached to the switch, mount the switch onto the bars. qed

I defy you to get in wrong

Hi All,

I added this Mod, and after dealing with the at times unpredictable low idle stumble, and not confidence inspiring low speed turns (i.e. try a low speed uphill bar lock turn, without the mod, and you find yourself having to give a little more throttle).
The change in the bikes performance in low gears is sensational, it is smooth and predictable the way it should be.

Thanks for this forum and providing such an easy fix to what I think was the one floor of this bike, other than that my 72Km, S10 is the best bike I've owned, and now you guys have made it even better for me, Thanks.

Simple. It's because of the ECU control maps for the relation between throttle and power output that each gives you access to. AVC8130 did my reflash and it is absolutely the way the bike should be and is that much better than the jumper mod.
There's no recent thread info that indicates what year models this mod applies to? Is it every model?

Seems to me that a person would now have to be careful on 2014+ models, to select the correct switch on the (now?) dual switch clutch lever assembly. That is, select the clutch pull switch, and not the cruise control disengage switch.

Wow - That's the "way back" memory that I wrote when I had the Gen1 bike. I'd originally done the clutch jumper mod and after a long talk with Anthony/AVC8130 at a Romney Camp-N-Ride, had him reflash the ECU.

Now, you're right in that trying to do the clutch jumper mod would require getting the right connector. But then if you get the wrong one it should be easy to detect with the cruise control engaged.

Both switches on Gen 2 at the clutch have their wires molded to them, so you would need to follow the harness and unplug it under the side panel. If adding a jumper in there you'd likely not be able to plug the harness back together so cruise would be lost. Not a big deal really, cruise doesn't work anyway. <sarcasm >

OK, you did not explicitly say it, so I will. Its possible to apply this model to any gen cycle. Some cycles will be harder to mod than others, due to the later gen cycles having the molded switches.

OK, thank you!

Just tried this on my gen1 tenere after confirming that there is NOT a 50 degree engine advance on this map. Apparently that was a misunderstanding before with the flashtune UI.

Wow.

Huge difference down low in terms of overall fueling and engine smoothness. You can easily do full lock uturns now under just idle power with no stalling or surging. That alone makes this worth considering.

I think the best way to do this is just have anthony flash my bike, but this is an interesting mod.
