I have noticed that the M207 sensor that I just installed in the rear takes a little longer to send the head unit a pressure & temperature read. And today I also noticed it didn't seem to update pressure and temperature as often as the front sensor. I wonder if this means that they finally changed the sensor so that it only sends once the vehicle starts moving, thus conserving battery life, or adjusted the frequency of data updates for the same reason. Anybody know?

Did you connect it to the meter using the procedure in the little orange owners manual? If I recall correctly it requires setting the meter in pairing/connection mode and then after fully inflating the tire, letting some air escape until the meter grabs it. If so, then it's probably always on like the M203 since this is done stationary. My older SmarTire system actually required spinning the wheel after mounting to link the sensors to the monitor. My M203 system was inconsistent with the older sensors. Sometimes I'd see the front first, other times the rear first.

Well, I tried to use the 90 degree stem that comes with the M207 sensor on my rear wheel but no go, I could not get it to seal up on the wheel. It seems to be for an 8mm hole. In the end I fitted the extra M203 sensor I had. It’s old but working and at least I have a rear pressure reading again, for how long I don’t know. I’ve ordered a Dill VS925 stem, so will hang on to the M207 sensor. Looks like this is the way to keep using my system as long as the M207 sensors remain available.

Yep - I used the same procedure as for the M203: Go in pairing mode, select rear wheel, lowered pressure until unit picked up the signal. Easy as pie!

OK, then the M207 sensors must also be always on.

So a little update. I informed the seller on eBay that the M207 L-Shaped valve will not work on the 11.5mm valve stem holes. he advertises that it will fit either 8.3 or 11.5mm holes. In the case of the Super Tenere, the outer surface of the hole is slightly curved making matters worse. I don't think it will work on a flat 11.5 mm hole either because the external gasket gets drawn all the way into the hole when tightening the fixing nut inside the wheel. I like the idea of a 90 degree valve on the rear wheel to ease access and asked if there was an 11.5mm size l-shaped one available. Evidently there is not. A little back and forth with the vendor, including a couple of photos I provided (very responsive), and he has agreed to send me another sensor with an included straight stem for the price of shipping. While I don't need the straight stem anymore (followed Famous Fred's lead and bought a couple from WalMart), I can sure use the spare sensor. Great seller but what makes me nervous is he seems to be a sole source for these things. My intent on contacting him was to let him know that advertising these 8.3mm stems as fitting 11.5mm rim holes is misleading and potentially dangerous. he took my comments seriously and is trying to make good.

Looking at the included 90 degree stem I suspected that getting it airtight would be risky so I didn’t even try, but good to know.
So now that you are getting a new one, does that mean Orange is now offering it with a straight or different stem.
And who is the seller? Do you get the impression it is an official Orange reseller, or just some obscure Taiwanese eBay seller?

The only seller I could find is the Taiwanese source on eBay. If you look at his store, he sells a lot of other Orange products including OEM replacement sensors and retro fit kits for cars. I didn’t see any claim that he was an authorized Orange dealer though.

I noticed the retrofit kits for cars use the same replacement procedure of selecting the location, 1-4, and then deflating until the head units picks it up. Those systems are also 433MHz so it makes me wonder if they’ll also work?

Regarding the straight stem, it seems he also has those on his site. You might be able to coax him to toss one in, or order it at the same time, or just pick up a couple of them from Walmart.

Another update. I received the new sensor from the eBay seller today. What I expected was an M207 sensor packaged with a straight Dill type valve stem. To my surprise there was instead a brand new M203 sensor in the bag along with another similar 90 degree 8.3mm valve stem having a thicker stepped gasket but still too small an ID for the Tenere's wheels. I don't know if this means that the M203 sensors are still available for the asking or this is an old left over one though. I Guess I will find out as my front sensor is a couple of years old now.

Is this really not being produced anymore? I haven't emailed the company but it is still listed on their website. I really like mine. Great to have the voltmeter also. http://www.orange-electronic.com/en/product_m203.html#top
2 years later and my sensors are still good. the pressure reads a constant 4 lb low at any pressure. i have learned alot about adjusting tire pressure with this system. I now shoot have my pressure at highway working temperature be the recommended yamaha number. has been much better for mileage.

i love being able to start the bike and see the tire pressure before i leave each day.

does anyone have a picture of the 207 sensor that they used the straight stem with? im a little confused.

Look at my post from Nov 2020 in this thread and you will find my picture of the 207 sensor with an aftermarket straight stem attached.

M203 in the left, M207 with Dill straight stem on right.

Note the little screw on the M207 sensor which allows you to separate it from the stem. The M203 is all one-piece.

thank you. i guess i dont understand how the 90 degree stem would work but it dont matter. order straight stem, take little screw out. remove 90 degree stem. place straight stem in place. reinstall little screw. got it.

And,

Thank you very much

A 90 degree stem "might" work on the rear wheel except the ones Orange provides are for the smaller diameter 8.3mm stems used mostly on European bikes. US and Japanese bikes use the 11.3mm size. They claim their 90 degree stem fits both but it does not. Because the front stem resides between the spoke flanges on the front wheel, there's no way (unless it's quite tall) to fit a 90 degree stem there.

so,,,,,, i have slow leak after tire mounting at local shop. any quick ideas on how to trouble shoot that. the valve core is tight. im working till sunday morning then leaving on an Iron Butt 1000 early monday AM. (OF COURSE!)

seems to me either rubber seal is jacked up (misplaced or broke) or nut is loose or valve is bad. can it be that simple?

Some brands of tire are prone to leaking past the bead.

Make up a dilute solution of dish soap and water, then “paint” it using a small paint brush (1/2-1” wide) around all the suspect areas like the bead, valve, valve core etc.
