Congratulations on beating me to retirement, my friend.

End of August.
Unless the boss pisses me off (;) She won't) or I see the current leadership change retirement benefits.

And yes, I've been working on the boat. Lots yet to do but the plan is still to head south in October before the cold hits.

There's gotta be more than you and me. Who else is about to pull the plug?

Hmmmm....how are you going to get the bike in there? o_O (I pulled the plug, but plugged it back in. Very similar job, but TOTALLY different crew. And, you know how important the right crew is)

That's a little on the small side for a live aboard. (Scooter will be easy stowage) How long are you planning to sail, or just moving it South to have better access?

Hey Eric -
Just saw your question. It's actually pretty roomy inside and bigger than some member's campers. Definitely big enough for me on my own and the weeks that I have company.

I've always had to be places where other people wanted and respond when they called. Always wanted to do a Crocodile Dundee Walkabout, where you go till you are ready to go back. Timing-wise, the son and his bride are talking about kids next summer so if I'm going to do this, this winter is my big chance. The plan is to head south in October to head south and wander the Caribbean this winter. Karen's going to fly in for portions and I'm grateful for her support. Probably come back next May but if I want to cut it short, so be it. It needed some fiberglass damage fixed and the usual updates for an older sailboat so was priced at $5,000. I can do the work and for what I'll have in it am not going to stress financially.

Now I just have to make it happen.

Sounds like a great adventure. Good deal on the hole in the water too. A little sweat equity is always nice. I hope things work well and you have a stress free time wandering. Check in now and then and share your adventures with the land locked ones here. :)

Good on you for doing a true adventure of your dreams!! That looks really fun and a perfect size ship for one guy or a couple to enjoy. A compact live aboard, small bike (TW200 perhaps), and inflatable dingy and you will be set!! I always wanted to learn how to sail.

I figure I'm still 7-10 years away from calling it quits in the work force. My plan is to travel the states and see as much as I can in my own country and possibly Canada. I have no desire to do world travel. I got that out of my system when I was in the Seabees.
