I found an LED light to provide addional recognition when slowing or stopping.
I removed the licence plate and reattached it lower, just beneath this new LED. The LED is 6 in x 2 in or 150 mm x 50 mm. I need to know how to access the wiring to the brakes lights. Ideally if I can get the new LED to fire in snyc with both brakes, that woulbe ideal.
Inputs appreciated.

Under the rider seat. There is a plastic cover that can be removed to access a bunch of electrical connectors. It is a little tricky to remove, but you do NOT have to take off the rear fuel tank bracket like I did. The plastic cover has a 1/4 turn screw that pops out, and you have to detach the seat lock cable, which is also tricky. Then if you look carefully at the plastic cover, you'll see two tabs just forward of the fuel tank bracket that have to be depressed, then the cover can be maneuvered out. Here is a picture of the connector you want for the tail/brake lights: (borrowed from Airhead81, thanks!)

Black is ground, blue is the tail light, yellow is the brake light. The brake light wire is activated whenever any brake lever or pedal is used.
Now, this is a lot more trouble than just accessing the same wires under the pillion seat and the plastic pillion seat support. You do have to remove the grab bar handles to get the pillion seat support off, though. I installed a Skene controller by tapping into these wires with some Posi-taps.
Hope this helps.

Okay thanks, I have a 2018 ES model.
I'll have another look under the riders seat.
Any additional information or pictures would be greatly appreciated .

By using your method, does the new brake light fire when you apply the front brake lever??

Here are the wires beneath the rear pillion seat and I don't remember which is the brake light. As I wrote in your other post, this is downstream of the switches.

Motorcycles get wet and vibrate so I never use Posi-Taps. I use old fashion crimp connectors and stuff the ends with liquid rubber insulation.

I wired into the under seat wiring and added two led strips down the sides of my license plate frame. Done this mod on my last four bikes and it makes a big difference.

I prefer the led strips from Custom Dynamics.

I have a aux brake light /turn signal from cycle gear. The quality is questionable but after 3 months still works. I used the connection on the passenger seat with pos taps. I love pos taps the best thing since sliced burritos. With water I doubt you would have a problem unless you went full submarine.

On my Ten....I installed a Vizi Tec brake light flasher to the 3 pin connector under the rider seat. The Vizi Tec actually has matching connectors on both ends so its plug n play. Adjustable flash patterns too.

For an extra brake light I added a Whelen 3 LED TIR3 emergency light. I set the built in flash to solid since the Vizi Tec took care of the flashing & was more in step with use as a brake light. On my install...I wanted it to look factory so cutting the fender reflector pad made it look that way. I could have jus surface mounted it but then the license light extension would be needed & I liked the cleaner look without.

Do they flash all the time?
Mine doesnt...the Vizi Tec flasher unit only flashes 3-4 quick bursts then solid.

It’s an older post I’m replying to but can anyone tell me what type of three pin connectors these are for the brake light.
I want to wire in an extra brake light an motion sensor module and to make it a neat a possible without cutting wires or putting tabs in the wire I want to use a male and female connector to put in between the connectors on the bike.

Thanks

I believe this is the connector you are looking for.
