Hey all, I’m Carl and I’m new to the Tenere. I bought a 2015 with 44k miles on it about a month ago.
I’m still trying to work out what’s stock and what’s aftermarket. It’s got a weird windshield bracket that I can’t find in any exploded part view. It had a mile of extra wire under the right panel that I’ve managed to work out used to be for an aftermarket horn that no longer existed. There’s a number of other mysteries I’ll be trying to solve and expect I’ll be coming here a lot to seek the forum’s experience. I suspect you’ll all have fun with that.
thanks in advance,
Carl

Welscome to the herd. Likely a Madstad bracket for the windshield. It's aftermarket and won't show on any OEM parts breakdowns. If there's a lot of extra wire for a horn under the right cowling, it likely had a Denali soundbomb horn; that horn mounts just below the right cowling. I have both of those on my ST.

Welcome, from Bedfordshire UK.

IMHO it's often best just to strip out any old wiring & start afresh if needed. Old alarms, Satnav mounts & botched lighting are the usual suspects, indeed anything wired hot direct from the battery.

That's basically what I did. Cut out the old horn wires and confirmed my horn still worked. Then I made a new aux power cable with a connector I bought off eBay. Plugged into the existing aux power jack and ran fresh wires up to the dash filler where I've got a usb outlet and some switches for future LED lights.

Here's the windscreen mount pictures...
IMG_1986.jpgIMG_1985.jpg

I thought maybe it was MRA specific since that's the name on the windscreen... But I don't see this on their site anywhere.

I'm not sure if I get an Airstream or Puig replacement if it'll fit.

Thanks!
Carl

That is a Waspworks windshield bracket. No longer in production, but a highly effective modification.

And welcome!
