I'll keep it simple...new to me 2016 S-10 owner, kept the thumper though (wife thinks I'm selling it...HA!). New to the forum and I'm from the from the tiny blip on the map.... Vermont, USA. I've put a few hundred miles on in a couple of days of rain, and sadly snow...I hope the noises I hear from this engine are normal!. I enjoy the forum, well moderated and lots of good info. If I don't wave it's because I'm lost in the moment, or shifting...either way, no offense .

Welcome from Idaho. I put on a different muffler to distract me from the engine sounds.

Welcome to the forum. It's a noisy motor. If you hear rattling from the upper right side of the motor on cold start up, it should go away in 5 seconds or so. If it continues noticeably longer, it's the cam chain tensioner. This sometimes occurs, but it was mostly a Gen I issue and no Gen II bikes have had a failure. Don't stress about the over all agricultural noise, that's normal. :) Big parallel twin, loooong timing chain, etc.

Welcome, from Texas. I couldn't tell you what my bike sounds like. Before I leave the driveway, I'm listening to my 'pod via my SENA. I've always FELT a problem, before I've a HEARD a problem.

Sometimes when it is 90+ and I am going for a short ride I will wear a half helmet. Then I totally understand this thread.
