New owner here. Just picked up a 2016 ST and rode it back to Texas from Oregon. Nice bike!! Previously I owned a KTM 1290 SA and after an incident involving a barb wire fence the KTM was totaled and I wanted another motorcycle. I was tired of the super expensive maintenance of the KTM and had heard a lot of good things about the S10. After 2300 miles I can honestly say the S10 is alot more comfortable to ride and the seat and wind management are way better. The KTM had nice stuff, eg, heated grips and seat and fancier traction control and electronic suspension stuff but for my needs the S10 is a much better fit. Probably a lot safer too because when somebody passes in a sports car I don't have the urge to race like I did with the KTM. Maybe its me, but the S10 seems to get a lot more admirers too..
There are a few farkles I want to add -- heated grips and a taller windscreen, cyclops light and PIAA driving or fog lights and maybe the Eastern Beaver fuse block thing.. With the Yamaha wind deflectors, and the screen in the highest setting, wind management is pretty good, though.
So I'm here lurking around and appreciate all the effort you guys have put into the forum, hopefully I'll be able to contribute some myself as time goes by.

welcome, where abouts in Texas are you (its quite a big place!!). I am just north of Dallas and we usually have a monthly DS rideout with a few riders on S10's.
There are some similar rides organised in Austin and other places, so just being nosy to see where you are.

Welcome to the club, I recently traded in my 05 Goldwing for an S10, whilst the S10 vibrates a lot more and doesnt have as many bells and whistles, I enjoy riding it a lot more than the wing!!

Congratulations on the new ride, exactly what windshield do u have ? I originally had the tall Yamaha shield but a few months ago switched to the biggest VStream they make and wow that was a major improvement ! Installed the Cyclops LED headlight kit last year and that was also a major improvement, I actually like the whiter LED kit so much that this year I switched my wings headlights to LED.

Thanks! I'm using the OEM windshield in the highest setting. Its not perfect, but not bad with the winglet installed. I'm looking at upgrading to some barkbuster storm grips and the Vstream windshield as a Christmas present to myself. Santa has been exceptionally good to me this year ::012::
