So far there aren't any 20 year olds putting their hands up....So it's either age or a common sense thing? :D
at 28 I had a 900 Ninja, no way I could ride this BIG machine :D (had a 600 Teneré at 25 but it is a much smaller bike)
this explain that I guess.

Previous bike was a Yamaha TDM900 and got the impression most of the owners on the forum were getting on a little... Never asked the question there, so I'll do it here. ??? Wondering what sort of age group are attracted to our awesome S10. It's a big bike and can cost a few quid (£/$), which might keep more of the 'kids' away? Interesting to get a feel for who the bike attracts. 8) I'm 43 to start... ;D What's your age? ::017::
60. Just rode from from Chicago to the coast of Washington State. S10 didn’t miss a beat.

I'm not thinking the T-12 is a youngster's bike. Along with the FJR. My youngest got his FJR when he was 20, and was teased by the salesman that he had to be the youngest FJR owner. My other son in his 20's has an R6. Only a couple of their friends have bikes, so I say it's an age (generation) thing.

34, got into motorcycles at 29. Looking to improve my skills so I can do the eventual trip to Ushuaia.
If you really want to improve your skills, there is only 1 way : track
I learn more in a track week-end than 10 years on the road.

My recommendation if you can, buy a Suzuki SV650 or something like that, fully prepared, cost around 2-3000$ (bought mine 1800$), this way u wont be afraid to crash it,
plus you will have the smile on when you will overtake 1000 Ninja ;)

Wish I could have another bike to do track but I am an apartment dweller. Before getting my Super Tenere I had my KLR stolen and destroyed and my DR650 was vandalized because they couldn't steal it.

Track training is great. But, if he's going to the tip of South America, he's going to want/need off-road training as well. Not to mention, he's gonna have to learn how to avoid grandma, that can't see over the steering wheel, when she pulls out in front of him. 'Cuz, thankfully, they won't let her on the track. :D

60. Riding since age 10. Just bought a new TM EN300FI off-road enduro bike. That, and bicycle commuting year-round in Montana helps keep bike-handling skills sharper (probably never that great).
