My other bike has more than twice the BHP of the S10 so she does feel a bit flat anyway. But I’ve got used to it and the extra refinement of a tuned ECU helps a lot. I was hoping to get the suspension tuned this month too but I had to cancel it due to covid. At the moment High Command finds the ride of the other bike more comfortable but I think I can see potential in the S10 to be better for her once it’s tuned

Your other bike makes over 200bhp? What other bike do you have?o_O

I know wanting and needing are two totally different things, but wtf do you want more BHP for?

ZX14R produces 214bhp after flashing on the Dyno. If you rode one you’d understand why

True, very true! The ZX14R is an amazing bike, but I am almost certainly older than you and as Clint Eastwood once said, “a man’s got to know his limitations”. I found mine when I raced, for me, on the road nowadays, 100 - 120bhp is plenty. ;) :)

Well I’m 60 and I’ve had it nearly 9 years. It never fails to make me giggle like a little girl every time I nail it and for that reason I’ll never get rid of it.

For me there is absolutely no need or desire for more horsepower.
But I do wish the engine was much smoother .
I find it amazing that nearly all the big adventure bikes are twin cylinder .

Correct. There is no NEED for any more power than is required to reach the legal velocity. But bikes aren’t about need.

To each their own, but the Laws of Physics, are always in the back of my little pea brain. Specifically Newton's first law.

... And torque is what really matters
And that's why I love my MT01. He's got less power that my S10, and the S10 engine feels positively silky smooth and quiet as a mouse in comparison but the torque gives him sooo much character. Love it and will never part with it - very much like Matt's Kwak really, never fails to put a huge grin on my face and makes me giggle.

Have you considered a Honda CrossTourer? Similar weight to the ST, but plenty more HP. Also a very capable bike.
I did look at this after a you tube post called 'Bingley Wheeler' sold his KTM 1290 and bought the Cross Tourer. he highly recommends it. Undoubtedly very capable but too heavy. I'm already finding my old FJ 1200 a bit unwieldy so I need to think about weight. XT 1200 is already on the limit, Cross Tourer does have a bit more punch but just too heavy. Here's the link to the you tube video.

I suppose I’ve been spoilt for torque by my kwack. It puts out 120ftlb as opposed to 84ftlb of the S10. And the torque is there from tickover so you really don’t need to rev it. 3k revs will see you illegal in no time.
