But on the contrary, I have a sad experience. This year, in May, the warranty expired and in July the rear shock absorber leaked. Tried to do not in Yamaha. Filmed and staged five times. There was no way the mechanic could fix it. In the end, it seemed to be done, but drove about 1000 km and again dripped. The mileage is only 40 thousand km. If I don’t do the winter, I’ll have to buy a new one, which is $ 2000
A rare experience but that doesn't make it better for you. A couple shops in the US can overhaul them. I think Norwest and maybe Racetech.

But, the shock failing/leaking is mechanical. I think the OP was concerned about the electrical. Either way, it's reliable as anything out there.

very sorry to see this ! That’s only 24,000 miles what a lousy warranty Yamaha has ! $2,000 for a replacement rear shock is crazy ! I’m sure Sierra1 would be complaining big time if that happened to his ES .

Непонятно, что со мной случилось. Я осторожно использую свой мотоцикл. Под сапог попал песок, и манжета порвалась.

It's just one of those things you have to accept really. My seals went in the pumpkin at 5,000 MLS left me stranded in Wales. Have read sometimes they just ain't put in right. Has not put me off the bike at all as in
general it's been 100%. And it gets a good thrashing !

no problems for 199,003 miles but the 2014 is now in the shop, no start. Will post again after I get the verdict. still under YES warranty.

199,003 miles is what I like to hear. I think that I would give a bike that has been that good to me a pass! When I first joined this group, I had decided on getting an S10, and then the input splines on my GS gearbox gave out due to a well known issue that BMW was kind enough to forward on to its customers. So, instead of selling the GS and proceeding with the S10 plan, I spent $1000 of S10 money to buy a known good used gearbox, clutch pack (the friction plate hub female splines were worn glass smooth) new clutch slave and line and repaired the GS which is running great and back to daily duty, but I am done taking it on long trips which is the reason for the switch to the S10-reliability. So, thanks everyone for the input on the ES models, I feel better about considering them. I am patiently looking for a good Gen 2 candidate and flogging the GS to prove my mechanical skills (I could cross thread a gas cap!!) in the mean time.

. . . . I’m sure Sierra1 would be complaining big time if that happened to his ES .
Well . . . . duh. Don't know too many people that wouldn't be. Fact remains that no brand is perfect, and shit happens. But, that was the mechanical shock that was leaking. The OP specifically asked about the electronic portion of the suspension.

Correct. I was originally curious about the robustness of the electrical portion. Basically, I was trying to get a feel for the lifespan of the system. Sounds like it is pretty well thought out and executed, like the rest of the bike.

As far as suspension the only issue I have is I found a slightly worn right fork bushing at 5568 miles. It's a normal wear item and I typically wait until both sides have play before replacing.

For the super Tenere I recommend full front and rear suspension service at around 10,000 miles. It goes against my way of thinking. My dirt bikes get serviced every 25-50 hours when raced and 50-100 hrs when just trail ridden. Street bikes in past were serviced about every 5,000 miles or so.

After speaking with my local suspension tuner they have told me that 10,000 miles between servicing is a good interval for this bike and my riding conditions. The good thing about the ES is it's fully serviceable front and rear.
