As mine is traveling across country to my address I was wondering how many new 14 Budget baskets have been received so far and or installed.
What is the results? ::017::

"Budget" basket installed for a couple of weeks now. The 3200rpm shudder drove me nuts from day one when the bike was new. Completely gone now. Thank you Yamaha for the redesign, even if you never intended it to go into a 2012-2013! ::022::

Handlebar vibrations were a definite sore point for me on a recent long trip with the Tenere. Since installing the 2014 clutch basket this past weekend, the bike overall feels a lot smoother at all RPMs and I don't think handlebar vibrations will be an issue for me any longer.

I also noticed a another benefit. Engine braking feels a bit less abrupt now, even on top of the reduced engine braking I have with the flash. Probably due to the additional spinning mass of the new basket.

Really happy with the new basket.

Over 1000 miles on the 2014 basket and it has been a great improvement. The bike is super smooth and I no longer ride around the dreaded 3,200 RPM. Best mod so far.

Ditto ::008::

I even find that pulling out below 3200 is much nicer coming out of a turn and feeling the thumping of the big twin.

I installed my new basket yesterday and it has made a huge difference in smoothness. I could always get past the low 3000 rpm buzz without much bother, but having made two relatively long trips in the last year, really brought out the issue that bothered me most. As my speed increased (75+ indicated) the vibration through the handlebars and pegs was constant, especially against the wind or on a slight up hill. I knew it was clutch basket related because if I put slight tension on the lever, it would go away. That is now gone and I am thrilled. After over 30000 miles, I might actually start enjoying this bike now at cruising speeds.

First impressions is that we are incredibly fortunate to get this for $40 shipped. Before the new basket, the easiest way for me to tell of buzz was in the brake/clutch levers. I didn't really notice it in my Flexx bars so much, but going down the road it was so distinct in the levers it was like being lightly shocked on your finger tips. I hadn't heard this analogy before, but WRW9751 described it and it fit perfectly.

Now there's no buzz anywhere in the RPM range. It's still a big twin so there's a minuscule amount of that feedback going on still, but all in all the bike is drastically smoother.

I rode 30 miles before the basket change and 30 miles after back home, so I had a pretty good feel beforehand of the differences ::008::

dammit...

you bastards are going to cost me that money. ::015::
I really don't notice anything on my motor, and rarely do I linger around that rpm...

maybe I just got used to it.

that said, I have not had my fillings looked at in a while, so it can't be that bad :)

Picked up my ST this past Saturday from the dealership and it was remarkably smoother at any RPM. While picking it up, the dealership said they are replacing CCT under warranty. Double Bonus!

Since so many of you are doing this mod how about one of you make a "Photo Tutorial" of changing the Basket and the CCT. That would be sweet... I'm still shopping for a Tenere but know that when I do buy one I will end up doing this mod and I'm a picture guy for doing some of these mods. It sure helps us that are not as mechanically inclined like a lot of you are... So someone help us out and do a Photo tutorial of the swap..

what warranty? the one year US warranty that I bought expired long ago.
CCT is changed over to a manual jobbie.
Clutch basket on it's way.

Karson and I replaced his hub and cca yesterday. Took a little longer than we anticipated, but must have been some B/S in there somewhere.
He wouldn't tell me how the ride home went. At Least it didn't grenade on the way home!
I replaced mine today. I knew as soon as I started it there was a different attitude to the motor.
Rode it tonight on a local cycle shop's dinner ride.
With all the crap I went through trying to get rid of the bar vibes, was mostly in vain!
This fixed, really fixed my bikes throttle side vibration.

After picking up the OEM original hub and shaking it, you'll know! I've handle some hubs in my day, but none that where that loose. None of the springs where loaded, all where just bouncing around. I might think somewhere down the line they don't scatter some!

Couldn't be more pleased!

When they started it to take it into the shop to replace the clutch basket, I looked at the service writer and said "that doesn't sound normal", he agreed. Next thing I know CCT is being replaced under warranty. CCT is back ordered until 10/10. Wonder if there is a service bulletin.
