I really hadn’t noticed this before but I’ve been wearing my new to me Darian pants. They are thinner than my firehose pants. Anyway the heat on the left side ankle reminded me of my old FJR. So I came up with a fix that works great.

Its a plastic tube, kinda wedged in there on the Yamaha crash bar and I used a wire tie just in case. No more heat issue.

Speaking of heat, my 2013 didn't throw heat my way like my 2018 does. I think the reason is that I have engine guards and it re-directs the flow of the air inward toward my left leg. It gets a little warm at times from my upper ankle to below my knee cap. My 2013 did not have engine guards. I don't have an issue with the bike running hot or anything like that. Just guessing as to why.

I don't get it... how does that stop the heat from hitting your left leg? The inside of my left leg gets pretty hot in hotter weather... your tube looks like it's pointing right near it?

I just got the bike, a 2018, and haven’t fully researched….but it felt to me like the heat was coming from the rear exhaust and being blown forward some. My 2017 FJR has some minor heat but nothing like this. I imagine in winter it’ll be welcome :)

The tube funnels "cool" air from in front of the engine to his ankle/leg. Kinda like a cold air intake.

Looks unnecessary, also that crash bar is gonna go right through the engine case cover if you tip it over how you have that installed.
The large tube is plastic, and is inside the factory Yamaha crashbar. It shouldn't be an issue. . . . unless I'm not understanding correctly.
