I happened to come across a video where a gentlemen was changing his oil on a Tenere 1200 with an Altrider crash plate using the above Honda number oil filter. For those of you who have this crash plate you know it is a "pain-in-the-butt" to take it off just to change the oil. This filter is just a bit smaller so you can wiggle it into the front of the bike and spin it one. Obviously, a "much" quicker way to change the oil.
I assume that this filter must be ok to use????
Any insight(s) you can give would be appreciated. The person who put this video out was Florida Outdoor Adventure.

Thanks for your time.

It will work just fine. On the other hand, it's the same length as the Yamaha oem filter. Maybe an 1/8" shorter. Here they are side by side.

I use the MANN filters for the Honda Deauville on my S10. They are shorter than the normal filters. No issues here.
hello,

Do you use the MW 64/1 filter? I need to find a bit smaller filter that I can fit in the front of my bike with the AltRider skid plate. It is a pain in the butt having to take it totally off every time I want to change the oil.
Thanks for your time.

Yep, that's the one. I have a stash of them for my dad's Deauville.
Thanks for your help. I guess that 1/8 inch makes all the difference in the world "snaking" the filter into the bike via the crash plate.
I assume you have an alt rider crash plate...right?

I have the Yamaha bash plate but it was fitted when I bought the bike and since I don't venture off tarmac I'm happy to leave it on. To be honest I use the filters simply because I already have them. I still take the bash plate off when doing an oil change. Only 3 screws on the Yamaha plate.

Taking the Alt-Rider crash plate off everytime I want to change my oil is a pain-in-the-butt. Being able to snake in the smaller oil filter will be great!
