Finally finished up my home made pillion rack. All the credit for this project goes to Mak10 he sent me the prints from the one he made. The hardest thing I am facing now is finding the 3" and 4" bolts to lock it down. Ace hardware has 3" but no 4". It doesn't look to bad being made with a jig saw and drill and a file........A lot of file.

went to home depot and the guy there said all that stuff gets ripped off so they no longer keep it stocked....can''t have anything nice
Yeah, and those specialty metric items are usually in those drawers which I believe are restocked by a vendor, not store personnel. We have a local nut and bolt store that is usually good for anything I need, or I do sometimes get things from the local Fastenal store. Grainger is another good resource.

Nice work on the rack.

Nice job on that pillion rack.
For those considering making a similar rack what are the thread sizes of the 3" and 4" bolts?
I have some aluminium sheet so I think I'll be attempting making one myself too.

ACE Hardware is always a good go-to.
They all went away years ago. The one in Joshua was like walking back in time. The lighting, the concrete floor, bare brick interior walls, and the two old guys sitting out front. Loved it. Now it's a "retro style" restaurant. :(

Bummer. We've got one local here that is, as you described, "like walking back in time".

I thought about getting in touch but USPS cost to Canada cheapest way is
First-Class Package International Service™ at $16 for a padded envelope. I can get both sizes on Amazon here all in with shipping for about $23 US. So in the end it probably easier just to get them from amazon. I do appreciate the offer.

Maybe in the future but for now it's pretty nice living up here in Cape Breton. Except for the winter pot holes......
I have the sheet aluminium ready to go and will get to cutting and fitting later this summer. I've decided to make a Pillion rack to mount a rotopax fuel canister flat on it. Soft bags can go on top of that.

I've lived in Colorado for 62 years this used to be a great place to live, it is a complete S-hole state crime ridden, this place has been ruined....stay where you are you'll thank me later.
