High cost for collision insurance

Hi Fellow Super T riders. I was shocked when I received my insurance bill for my 2017 Super Tenere. For $500 dollar deductible collision insurance the bill was $339 for 6 months. This compared to $172 for my 2013 Goldwing F6B and $192 for my 2015 Yamaha FJ-09. Has anybody else run into these very high insurance fees? Any idea what is going on here? Is it because it is an Off Road capable bike (which I will never ride off road).

Have your agent check with other companies. When I went from a GS to a wing my ins. was going to double and my agent checked another company and it was less than the GS. Some ins. companies just don't like certain bikes or just don't want to insure them.

If somehow "sport" got anywhere in the description it's gonna be high.

As Don In Lodi mentioned it all depends on how the insurance company classifies the bike. Unfortunately many of the big ins. companies have the S10 listed in the sportbike category which is the highest priced tier.

Zero relevance to you, but figured it may give you a laugh. My S10 premium is about $1400usd a year. The FZ1 is an additional $1200usd. Zero multi bike discount.

I can only dream of your expensive rates.

I know ND probably has lower rates because of low theft rates and shorter riding season, but I only pay $132 annually for full coverage on the Tenere, $5000.00 accessories coverage, with $0 deductible for Comprehensive and collision through Progressive.
