Well, I haven't taken delivery yet, but I already have farlking questions. I want to take the garage door opener module off my Wee Strom before I sell it and put it on my new ST. It wires into the high beam switch wire (hot) and opens the garage door when you flash the high beams twice. So, I need some advice on what color the high beam hot wire is, and where it's best to access it. Thanks for any help you can give.

On the Tenere there is an H7 bulb in each side, that is a one filament bulb. The high beam is controlled by a servo motor and shield.
The color for that is pink and it comes out of the headlight assy along with the headlight wire. It then runs to the right side and into a bundle and then into a connector under the right side cover. You'll have to search for it a little..

Here are some pics of the harness taken by dallara.

Thank you for the quick reply.

As I think about the work involved in removing the sender from my V-Strom and transferring it to the new S10, I'm thinking it may be less hassle to just let it go.

If I understand it correctly, the pink wire just controls a motor that moves the headlight bulb up and down. It might be easier to just buy a momentary contact switch and mount it somewhere on the handlebars.

Not exactly. The pink wire controls a shutter that moves in front of the bulbs. When on low beam, a shutter is moved into position to block what would be the 'high beam' light pattern. That is why there is a real sharp 'cutoff' in the beam pattern. When going to 'high beam' the shutter is moved out of the way and all the light gets projected down the road.

No harder than a normal bike. On a 'normal; bike, the the high beam wire sends 12V to the high beam filaments. On this bike the pink wire sends 12v to a solenoid. Just tap off of that wire using a posi-tap or a variety of other methods

Just to clarify, if anyone is looking at the schematic and wondering where the pink wire is (like me): The drawing shows a red (R) wire to the headlight solenoids, which comes into the connector as a yellow (Y) wire.

Confirmed as built: Yellow (Y) into connector, and pink (not red) to the solenoids.

Hope this helps.

Mike

Yes, same as the Euro Spec diagram

One side of the the connentor has:

Green

Blue

Red (pink)

Black

The ohther side has

Blue/Black

Blue/Red

Black

Yellow

As you said, yellow connects to Red (pink) for the high beams, so you could tap off of the Yellow wire under the side panel if that's more practical.

Update: my 2017 s10 was a pink wire. That’s correct. My 2019 is now a BLUE WIRE WITH A BLACK TRACER. There is no more pink wire at all. I can’t speak for 2018s but the wire harness direction and all the colors are different for 2019. This is the wire that powers up when the high beams are on.54515FC9-950B-477E-A3C2-172921C90CDC.jpeg
