Actually I am in Canada bigtim just east of Toronto. I think I retained my accent because I worked for Parsons Turbine Generators division and they where bought out by Siemens. Parsons was located in Newcastle. There was about 7,000 people working there when we emigrated in 1972 and now most of the shops have been pulled down and all the ship yards are gone too.bigtim said:Limey, I'm impressed you've managed to retain your Geordie accent although I've managed to retain my Northern accent despite living down south with all the soft southern shandy drinkers for too many years. I bet you had a great time with your accent growing up in the US because whenever I've visited the US I've never had a problem meeting lovely people who "Loved my accent". I hope to try and get over to the US more often in the future to see lots more of it and possibly meet some of the like minded people on here.
