Hi everyone, I'm Federico from Argentina, I own a 2011 xt1200z that is now showing 18.000 km and mostly without issues except that sometimes becomes unstable at idle and rough throttle control, I'm suspecting of a wire harness problem, apart from that is a great machine, I previously owned a xtz 750 super tenere and this 1200, altough being completely different, continues the legend.
Farkles and mods on the bike? yamaha crash bars, givi windscreen, motech skid plate, motech trax panniers, touratech gps mount, touratech lateral stand extender and krauser front light protector.
I've been reading the forum for a long time and it was time to register. And as there's no intro without pics so here there are

Welcome on, Federico from Argentina. Good looking motorcycle. Hopefully you can solve your issues with the idling here. Welcome to the Forum. ::004:: R. ::022::

Fedev, Have you syncronozed your throttle bodies? This is maintenance to smooth this out. Just wondering.

No I havent done the sync yet, in some km more I will take it to the dealer for the 20,000 km service, I will tell about the sync and the problem. The WEIRD thing on this, is that I've been riding for a whole month, on and off road, under heavy rain, freezing cold temps, about 2500 kms and nothing happened, and just one day when taking her for a short ride the problem came back! Its not constant, is more like once or twice in a month or every 1500 or 2000 km. Touching some wiring near the relays (the big bunch of wires on the right side) seems to affect, bike can be idling good and when touching/moving those wires the rpms start to fluctuate and even the engine may stop. Rare isnt it?
Many thanks for the idea of sync anyway
