Newb here looking for a gently used gen II (probably a 2014 non ES). Recently sold my 2014 FJR and will be selling my 2016 Burgman 650 - the ol' back just can't take the bumps/jolts anymore. Not looking to ride to Tierra del Fuego - just for a dependable m/c w/ good suspension and upright riding position.
Have been lurking and reading various posts to soak up the wisdom.

I have a farkled 2014 that I don't want to sell but it hurts seeing it on the driveway and not being able to ride it.
I broke my leg back in June and I'm not quite ready to get back on the bike. I've been turning the bike on every few days, but it's painful to just stare at it.
It has around 16k miles and I bought it new a year ago. It has a lot of YES transferable warranty left.
Will try to post a picture. Let me know if interested and I can find the list of farkles.

Thanks to all for the welcome! Still on the hunt on a ST in my price range - hard to be patient but sooner or later one will turn up.

I see that you bought a 14 blue super tenure... Where did you find it and was it in the price range you were looking for or did you have to go up in price to get it?

Thanks for your time,
Chris

Chris,

Found the '14 ST in Tulsa, OK - was on the Tulsa Craigslist. I was able to negotiate a good price on the m/c (owner had a note on the bike and wasn't riding it, so he was agreeable to coming down on the asking price). Rode it home this past Friday (had to leave it at a friend's house in OK the week prior when I bought it d/t ice storm). Completely stock other than the OEM crash bars and had less than 1,200 miles on the odometer - now up to 1,800 miles. Got it inspected here in Texas and went to the courthouse to pay a chunk of change for title, tags, registration, sales tax, etc.
Now comes the major expense of adding those farkles to make it mine. ;)

A warm welcome to the forum from Beautiful British Columbia, Canada!

Excellent choice! Lots of info here on modifications. But before you get carried away, note that the 2014 and later models need very little mods unless you intend doing hardcore off-roading. They come adequately equipped off the showroom floor for street riding.

Good luck!

Rod,

Way I figure it, next time you & I are with "those FJR folks", we'll be able to make a beer run quicker since they'll have to stick to the pavement to get to the liquor store. :D

Welcome aboard.
There are a lot of sport-tourer owners and previous owners here, including from he FJR community.

Besides, the Tenere is the comfy capable SUV of motorcycling.

Congrats on the new ride Ed. We met years ago @TexSTOC in Bandera. ( I think) Ran into you in Pagosa a few years later when i was riding a Wee and my wife was on a K75. Rod is planning a rally of sorts for riders of the less respected ADV bikes In the Kerrville area over on TWT. Hope to see you again. Paul Wood

Paul,

Was that the TexSTOC where my wife and I had the hamburger cookout at our RV next to the motel? I remember running into you & your wife at Pagosa Springs and then later that day in Ouray. I had a GL1800 at the time and my riding partner Larry was on a ST1300. I have since had a DL1000, ST1300, NT700V, 2 FJR's, and a bunch of scooters. I'm blaming this Super Tenere purchase on Rod aka ColoRider (at least that's the excuse I gave my wife). Is Rod on TWT the same as Mr2mch? I have been reading that thread and might show up (I am retired and now living in Kerrville). I've run into him at a couple of the TWT RTE's.

That was the TXSTOC. I got the Rods mixed up and Mr2mch on TWT is the one I know and the one pushing the rally in Kerrville. Hope to see you there.
