Hello,
Thought I’d finally post my intro message because I’m back looking at the Super Ten again… I actually joined this forum back in July of ’16, did some reading and then moved on.
My current ride is an ’05 FJR1300 which I‘ve had for 6+ yrs and it’s my year-‘round daily driver for the miserable Silicon Valley traffic (pre-Covid of course, working from home now for 6 mos and this will continue at least thru EOY).
The FJR is staying for now but I figure I could expand my riding if I included some mild off-roading… AND, a friend just got a new 2019 Africa Twin and is doing the same.
I must say, a Super Ten would be my very first 2 cylinder bike; twins have never interested me regardless of config (Parallel, Vee, Boxer) but I can see how they’re good for the ADV bikes.
I’m also a life-time DIYer for maintenance and do my own valve adjustments and TB synchs (and it won’t be too different from the FJR). The one thing I do need to confirm is how I fit on a Super Ten. At 6’-10”, nothing really fits me and although I don’t need all-day comfort, if my knees on banging on hard parts, that could be an issue. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve actually seen a Super Ten in person outside of the Int’l MC show from several years ago as the Cal show has been in Long Beach for years now. Anybody in the South Bay area want to let me sit on their bike? I promise I won’t ask to ride it!
In the meantime, I’ll continue reading this forum and the FB groups while keeping an eye on the GEN1 bikes for sale and perhaps I’ll come across the right deal someday (not seriously looking yet but it’s fun to shop CL and Cycletrader).
