Welcome! From Colorado.
These bikes are plenty capable "Off-Pavement"

Nice photo. I can appreciate your comment and I'm sure you are right. I have spent some time ripping around on on my S10 on a few graded gravel roads with the stock tires and had no problems. However, nowadays I don't ride my S10 offroad even on gravel roads. My wife rides with me now, everywhere I go. Unlike me, she has no idea how to bail off a crashing motorcycle. She has no idea what that is like or whether to stay with the bike, depending on the situation. Her reactions would be far too slow. The one time I tried an unimproved gravel road with her on the back, well, it scared her pretty badly. She'd never been on the back of a motorcycle until she met me a six years ago. If I want to ride again offroad I'll just buy something more suited to it. Enjoy your rides and be safe.

Welcome from San Antonio, TX! You and I have the same year and color. Which means we spend just as much time cleaning it as we do riding! Lol! :p
Yeah, that's true. I do spend time shining up that sucker. The last couple of days I've been considering selling it and getting something a little smaller and more nimble that I would be able to handle on two-track trails or unimproved roads. I don't see us ever touring again. Never say never, I know, but that's what seems to our future. Anyway, thank you for the Hello. Stay safe and have a nice Holiday.

Yamaha should include extra cans o' polish with any all black model! :p Sorry to learn you might let it go so soon though  I'm currently using mine for daily riding (running errands, etc.), weekend twisty rips and touring. I plan to tackle unpaved roads solo but ONLY up to say a campsite or something super easy. The bike is very versatile but if you've got two track stuff you'd like to have fun on, then something like the Tenere 700 (or smaller) would definitely be more appropriate and fun (imho). My wife said she'd be willing to ride pillion when I got mine ...and because of that, I made EXTRA sure it'd be a solo bike for me. Ha ha! :p
