Carrot,

Welcome!

We were in Kerrville a few years ago for a bike rally. I really enjoyed the Hill Country, nice folks, great roads and beautiful scenery. We ate at Copper's in Llano and it was great! I hope to get back again one day to see more of the area.

Welcome, carrot! AZ in October is a great time to visit. I used to live in Tempe and biked all over that state. Lots to see and great camping. Payson, AZ is very cool as is Prescott, Mingus Mountain, Grand Canyon, Williams, White Mountains, etc. I could go on and on. Not sure what your route is going to be, but if you get a chance, swing on through Mammoth Cave in NM. That thing will absolutely floor you. If you get up around Kingman, it's just a hop skip and a jump to Las Vegas.

If you're going to get up into the higher altitudes, bring a good sleeping bag and mattress. It can get cold at night, although October shouldn't be too bad.
