Headlight projectors asymmetrical?

Not the beam, the inner projector bulb thing itself. I've never noticed this before, so here are a few pics, then I need some advice or input if anyone has some to offer:

For the last year I've been running the Cyclops LED kit. I've been disappointed with the performance, but that is not what this post is about.

I set out to adjust the beam pattern and couldn't get them fully adjusted, so manned up and pulled out the whole light housing from the front of the bike to see what was going on. When I removed the caps from the rear of the lights, the whole bulb carrier part was loose. It rocked like a table with one short leg. With the 2 adjuster mechanisms seemingly backed off the thing that was holding ground was probably the ball and socket pivot point.

Anyway, I readjusted the adjuster screws with an aim to have the lights basically centred (as viewed from the front) so I could fine tune in the dark later that night. Then I went to put the Cyclops caps back on and struggled. Even more than usual. On closer inspection I realised that my left light sits rearward compared to the right and the fan mechanism on the rear of the Cyclops LED bulb was preventing the cap from going back on.
[At this point I realised when I had fitted the cap a year ago I had adjusted the beam aiming screws until the fan hit the Cylops cap and then I kept going, to no avail. The light beams never bounced around on the road, so I again assume the fan was jammed on the cap]

Currently I have returned the left one to stock and I'm not prepared to pull the Cyclops cap off the back to show how much farther the left fan sticks rearward compared to the right.

A couple of questions finally....

Has anyone else noticed any asymmetry in their stock bike? Is it a left/right side of the road thing perhaps?
I've thought of opening the whole light housing like a clam shell to check it out. Has anyone done this and if so does it seem there may be a way to reseat the bulb carrier deeper in (forward)? I have considered screwing the lights adjusters maximally, but it will still pivot on the ball and socket so I don't think that would work.

OX i have not noticed the gaps.
I seems like you have popped the left projector off off the internal connectors.

The lights actually are held in place by ball and sockets at three points.
1 point is a fixed post, and the other 2 points are the adjusting mechanisms.

Just check to see if the ball socket connectors have broken or just popped off.
Large pot holes can pop them off sometimes and hard vibration can actually brake off a tab from the socket that holds item together.

Thanks Gigitt, the weird thing is that if it has popped off it has popped backwards. Meaning toward the rear of the bike so I can't get the dust cover back on.

I understand from looking at Bigguy's pics on another thread in here (http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=21042.msg301760#msg301760) that if the bulb carrier has popped off the ball and sockets it should pop forward.

I think I'll have to get the tools out........

No asymmetry here. It does look like something has come apart in yours.

I had a car that was equipped with projection head lights. Noticed that one light was "wonky". Turned out that the adjuster mechanism and failed/broken. Had to replace the whole assembly. Luckily, mine was under warranty. Hopefully, this not what happened to yours, but....
