I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide.
Hah! Was looking to see if someone had a skid plate removal video for my first oil change. Ran across this video with the S10 just hanging around.....

On a few bikes I've ran a ratchet strap around a roof beam when I had the front tire off and didn't have a jack stand but this guy is next level motorcycle lift.

I have a S10.
I have a ACD Racing skid plate on my S10.
I have a garage.
I do not have the ability nor the desire to “hang” a close to 600lb scoot.
I have successfully changed my oil/oil filter by removing the ACD while bike
is on the centerstand.
First time I saw this vid I was definitely
Whiskey-Tango-Foxtrot. o_O

This seems like a really labor intensive way to solve the problem that's normally solved by having a center stand and a floor or bottle jack. And since I see in the pic that he does have a center stand, I can't figure out why he needs to hang his bike a couple feet in the air in order to install a skid plate; it sure wasn't necessary to do that when I put on the OEM plate. Wrenching on a bike that's hanging from a center pivot point has to be an exercise in frustration; I don't know how you exert any leverage on a stuck nut when the bike is able to swing around like Tarzan on a vine.

I've had the entire front and rear end off my bike using just a small floor jack; I can't imagine how hanging a 600 plus pound bike from the ceiling is an better solution than that.

I have a big pad-eye in the garage ceiling to lift the rear of the bike to do rear tire changes, as the center stand is not on my bike. Very quick and easy.

But the work stand is best for oil changes and most maintenance. The ACD is easy off and on with studs at the exhaust ports and the rear left bolt reversed.

Everyone has their own best methods. As far as lifting the bike up, if I didn't have a center stand/jack system, I'd opt for a Pitbull stand rather than hanging the rear of the bike from the ceiling.

That lifting work stand would be great, especially for my arthritic knee. Being able to comfortably kneel is starting to become a dim memory.

Checkswrecks,
I have the “stud mod” on my S10 and I assume the reversed rear, left bolt you mentioned is referring
to bolt that attaches the skid-plate bracket to the mounting point for the center stand, correct?
