Haulbikes Beware

If anyone is planning to ship a motorcycle in the future, you may find this helpful.

Around Thanksgiving 2022, I purchased a motorcycle from DSP Motorsports in Barrington, IL. The dealer agreed to ship the bike to me. They contracted with Haulbikes. Haulbikes picked the bike up from the dealer on 12/2.

First I was told the bike would be delivered by 12/20. They missed that delivery date, at which point they pushed their delivery estimate out to mid-January. I called them between Xmas and New Years to get status. I was told the bike was in Oklahoma City waiting for a driver and that mid-January was still the new date. I had the dealer then inquire with them on 1/9 and they were told I should be getting a delivery call any day now. Still waiting for that call today on 1/17, I contacted Haulbikes and was told it would take three more weeks, moving the date out to the 1st week of February.

WHAT A JOKE!!!

WHAT A RIP OFF!!!

This is Haulbike’s FAQ statement:
How long will it take?
  • Total transit time 21-28 business days from booking to delivery. Northwestern states have longer transit times.
##############

I am now at 35 business days, and when I finally-hopefully get my bike it will have been about 45-50 business days. The motorcycle has been in Oklahoma City since the 3rd week of December. They now say it is going to take 3 more weeks to get my bike from Oklahoma City to Junction Texas (a 6 hr 19 min drive). Bottomline, if they deliver by the new target, it will have taken Haulbikes between 65 and 70 calendar days to delivery a bike from IL to TX. (an 18 hr 34 min drive).

This company makes no guarantee on delivery time, they just bait-n-switch you with a FAQ suggesting 21-28 days.

YOU ARE COMPLETELY AT THEIR MERCY!!!
It appears.....THE DELIVERY DATE IS SOLELY DEPENDENT ON HOW LONG IT TAKES THEM TO GET ENOUGH ORDERS TO FILL UP A TRACTOR TRAILER. Until it is full you can just shut up and wait!!

If you want to ship a bike and don’t care how long it takes, Haulbikes may be for you. I for one will NEVER EVER use them again.

Haulbikes.com calls themselves a premier shipper and note their laughable slogan ‘It’s who we are. It’s what we do.’

Man, sorry for your trouble! I've used HaulBikes twice in the last 5 or 6 years and had a favorable experience. One of the shipments was delivered a couple days early, and one was about a week and a half after the Target date. I thought the price was very fair also. I could have went with a shipper that guarantees a delivery date, but that costs obviously costs more. While I have recommended HaulBikes over the years, I always say don't be in a hurry. Hope this works out soon for ya!

I've mostly heard people having good experience with them, so am sorry to hear yours has been bad. They do contract to owner-operators, so this was probably something to do with that individual.
