Glad im not the only one who questioned the oil filter location lol.
I think it was CW that suggested that this motor may have come from another machine, where the filter location wasn't so WTF.

Problem I see, is where can you really put the oil filter. Towards the back, or on the back of the engine, you have all the engine heat, and minimal cooling air. Yes, the skid plates we put on reduces the air flow, but there is still air circulating up front, and with cooler air.
The FJ/FJR location would be ok. It's seems to work ok for them.

What is with that huge exposed radiator and super short front fender? The very first farkle had better be a 12" fender extender. The second will be a protective radiator screen.
To sell you the Super Freedom Screamin Eagle fender extender.

Only $499 and we offer financing

I like that they dug it. The price though, $20k for the farkled version is gs money.

Why shouldn't it cost GS money? The PA's tech is as or more advanced and it has more power and requires less maintenance (no valve adjustments needed). That leaves chain vs shaft drive, both have their pluses and minuses.

Looks aside, it certainly seems the part and I see no reason why it should not compete with any other bike in the segment.

I am not the greatest rider, but is the "moving" top box just a gimmick, or does it really move the balance advantageously?

What is a "new" Tenere going for on the dealer floor these days, about $16k for a bike that's 12 model years old? I guess we'll see what the market can bear, but most people buying these bikes aren't new buyers or young people. Middle aged men who watched Long Way Round with disposable income is the target audience.

. . . . Middle aged men who watched Long Way Round with disposable income is the target audience.
Yamaha has a history of sticking with certain designs and/or models. Ie: XS 650, FJ/FJR, and the Tenere. You're right, first time buyers are not picking the Tenere. When I got mine, the sales guy laughed, and said I wasn't the average Tenere rider. He couldn't explain, other than "you just are". After being here, I know what he meant. A bunch of y'all have over a 100k miles under your belts, and I do too. But, y'all's miles are way different than mine. Not better, or worse, just different. But, we both require a certain type of bike. The H-D may turn out to be a great bike, but, at that price, and H-D's reliability reputation. . . . it may not get the chance to prove it.

I bought an uncrated 2013 tenere in 2016 for 10k and watched them uncrate it.

You can finf screaming deals on the tenere because it never sold like the t7.

I lets see how it does.

I think its the right bike for the wrong crowd.

Harley is trying to win NEW customers and i dont see that happening when the bike is this much.
