I don't think that twinrider thinks you have a very purty bike. I do have to agree with him. . . . but, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

Well i may be completely wrong on this but i saw on the internet the price of the new Harley is being posted about 4000 dollars higher than the original MSRP that was being put out there. I saw a listing of over $20,000 for the base model and over 24,000 for the upgraded model. that is just the bike nothing to go with it! I realize Harley has a lot of tooling and start up manufacturing processes to pay for but as far as i am concerned (if this is true) that is strike one. I realize i am a bit of a tight ass but that is just too much money for a unproven bike. I am still interested in how this is going to turn out and i do hope they make a good showing do well.

Probably that same 'ol Harley price-gouging from the 1990s returning. Cost is over MSRP, and you had to wait a year for your bike.

Ultimately the market will dictate price no matter what.

That's about the same as the base GS and top of the line version.

Not in most dealers. If you go inside and actually look at prices, they are often much higher. In the Western US, finding a base model GS or GSA is almost impossible, as the dealers order every option and price it much higher than base. You can order what ever you want and wait 6 months or more, and the used market is there, but until we see actual pricing inside dealerships, you can't make an apples to apples price comparison.

True
It's the sales model for both BMW and HD

Irv Seaver (local to me) can always get you a base model or any configuration you want no problem at all. I know this because I was considering a GS when I was shopping for my Super Tenere. One of many things that put me off on the BMW were all the GS's in the service department lined up with forks, driveshafts, and motors torn down for major repair. There were only a few bikes that were in for routine service.

Of course you have to understand that Irv Seaver is the one of the oldest and well known motorcycle dealers in the world.

My dad told me a story of his BSA he purchased from Irv Seaver. Back then all the new bikes had drip pans underneath them to catch the oil dripping off the motors.

I agree that any dealer can get you a base model, just that you'll have to wait for it. How long depends on lots of factors, I would guess. Irv Seaver is perhaps one of the best West Coast dealers and likely has better options for getting bikes that some smaller dealers. I haven't ever seen a base model GS or GSA on the floor at any BMW dealer I've been in, which has been far too many, all across the US. I would like to believe that some dealers do order base models for the show room floor to give buyers options, but that doesn't appear to be common place.

I just wonder how many options the Harley dealers are going to offer for the Pan America?

Wow, I remember Irv Seaver from back in the 60’s when they only sold Hondas.
