Well 35 years ago I did. I still have one I use in camp for relaxing sometimes. Too hard to sleep in these days.

I just love the Kermit chair!! I don't have one but it's on my wish list!!

Did the hang for a few years and went back to being a ground dweller. I sleep better in the hammock but enjoy the luxury of a 3 man tent to store all my gear indoors and give me room to spread out.

I decided to give hammock camping a shot so I brought a hammock with me the last 3 times that I have camped. Every time the camp sites that I was at didn't have any trees that were close enough together to hang it. So, I have yet to use it. For some reason, I get the worst camp sites.

thats the opposite from me, I got to where I couldn’t sleep in a tent. The summers were just to hot and my back bothered me. So I gave it up and then 3 years ago picked up hammock camping on a friends advice. I sleep much better and cooler. I’ve had the Kermit chair for a long time. It takes up to much room packing but is just great after a long hard day of riding. So comfortable. I have a simular style table I normally carry as well. Makes coffee in the morning easy when dispersed camping.

i get that, it has taken some adjustments to get comfortable with the lack of gear storage. Mainly I am using the extra space in my panniers. Once my camping gear is out i have plenty of room for any other gear I may want to put in.
this is my last outing with my most recent setup.

I worked that system for awhile. Now I just pull the panniers (Mosko BC 35's) and the rest of my gear, toss it all in the tent, and still have plenty of room to sprawl out. I also like the extra privacy of a tent to change clothes, etc. without having to deal with dropping the tarp flaps/doors.

That said, I do hate sleeping on the ground and may revert to a hybrid system with the hang for sleeping and a small cheap one man tent for the gear and a changing room. It's not like these bikes can't haul all that and the kitchen sink.

And the view when I woke up every morning (one of the main things I miss about hammock camping):

I use a hybrid hammock tent called the Eureka Chrysalis. The first time I used it on a 50+ degree night with a 20 degree sleeping bag I froze my ass off. I got a quick education about the value of an insulated pad or under quilt when sleeping in hammock.

I've been thinking of a hammock tent for awhile , seems most of my trips are out west where there are no trees .....
as far as comfort I did by their hammock for just lounging around and its comfortable as you lay at an angle and you are mostly laying flat . I like the idea of it.

Have not tried a hammock because as others have mentioned a lot of places I camp have not trees. I use to have a hammock on the back patio of a previous home and loved taking a nap in it. Kermit chair with the leg extensions usually goes with me even it takes up space on the bike.

I bought a hammock setup, tried sleeping in it on a trip, not so happy with it. The next night I used the tent but instead of putting up the rain fly I used the hammock tarp over the tent to keep the dew off. I hate waking up to a damp tent from my own breath. That was the best nights sleep I ever got camping. Will try the hammock again this season.

check out the Shug YouTube channel if your courteous about hammocks, interesting cat to say the least. I’ll have my set-up at the super tenere South Dakota rally.

I can’t decide where I sleep better but I like the convenience of the hammock- no dirty ground cloth, typically less dew, and no issue with uneven ground.
But now I added a CRF250L to my stable and I fear I won’t be able to haul as much gear when taking it. So I think I will be taking the tent more.

I have a Hennessy but the older i get the less well i sleep. Thinking of getting a Haven this summer since they lay flat. I like being off the ground too much to go back to a tent.

I have an Amok hammock with a Tensa outdoors hammock stand when there aren't any trees. Best sleep ever.

Easy to carry and set up
