Hello everyone! New member here from Central Virginia near the Blue Ridge Parkway! After a 10-year hiatus from riding, I took the opportunity for early retirement and well....I'm loving the extra time to enjoy riding again. In my search for the perfect retirement bike, I bought and sold a Kawasaki Concours and a Vstrom 650. Both were great bikes but the connie was a bit heavy and the strom was a bit light (and small). Both bikes rode well but I was searching for that perfect balance between weight, handling, and comfort. So, I recently purchased a 2020 Super Tenere ES and I think the perfect balance has been found. I’m loving the fit, quality and comfort of this bike and the cruise control is a fantastic option. I’ve already added bar risers and an upgraded seat – guess that means I’m committed. Thanks for all the great information on the forum; it has been super helpful. Take care everyone and ride safe.

Welcome from Texas. I know what you mean. I have an '86 FJ that has always been my favorite ride. My last bike was a Honda ST. Good bike, but not soul stirring like the FJ. I saw the Tenere when it came out, but couldn't justify another bike. Then I retired in '17. Said ba-bye to the Honda, and come to papa to the Tenere. Didn't even test ride it. I'm glad I got the only perfect one from the factory, 'cuz I haven't wanted/needed to change a thing about her. Favorite ride ever.

I've always wanted to ride/drive the Parkway, but never had the time. Always saw the exit signs on I-81 when I was in the Navy traveling between Texas and Connecticut.

I'm sure many on the forum can attest to how nice of a ride it is and I feel super blessed to be so close to it (20 minutes). Love the quick weekend trips up there. Hope you get to cruise it one day. I had a 2005 FJR at one point and loved that bike. That was my last one prior to my 10-year separation from riding due to the important things in life (family responsibilities, kids, etc)...but now - retirement is so sweet.

My son has a flashed '14 FJR. Apparently, the flash removed the top speed limiter. My FJ is fast, his FJR is faster, but my Tenere is "funner".
