Happy with my Morimoto HID upgrade. More light and a better pattern on the road than any of the LEDs I tried. So far in my experience bulb longevity is better than LED or OEM type incandescent bulbs.

Same here. I ran Morimotos in my Gen I S10. Thought I tried Cyclops LEDs in my Gen II, was disappointed and went back to Morimotos. Brighter and better focus.

Is there a reason you're opposed to LED? Is it mostly fitment or something else?

So yes....not a huge fan of LEDs just because of the shadowing. I just don't find them bright enough for me. Looking for alternatives

i would fit if you have crash bars a set of auxillary lights your done then, or a light bar under headlight

I'm not a big fan of LED's either, currently using them in my F350 after switching from HID and lots of spotty shadowing with the LED's I find. The only positive I find is the white color over the more yellow of my original halogen bulbs. I also had the HID on this truck and they were the best in coloring, visibility and clarity BUT they were also unreliable. HID's are known to have ballast failure and you can be just driving along at night and the lights will just go out. I speak from experience, no issues for about 2 years and then in the middle of winter one night about 100km from town out they went.
Though the truck is not an S10 it is my #1 form of transport, especially in winter. I rack up 20-25k kms during winter months chasing snow for my other hobby and well over 80% of the time driving in the dark. Unless things have changed with HID bulbs, I would never trust them if you night ride.
On my S10 I use the halogen's and have LED Piaa driving lights mounted on my crash bars, also a cheapo LED flood light bar bellow the main head lights.
This combo works well, the driving lights give great distance while the floods give's great peripheral. For the amount of night riding I do this works well.

I don't know what LED lamp you have tried, but there are bad, regular, good and very good lamps...a very good lamp, it far exceeds a halogen H7. the Halogens, it is rare to get them in more than 55w of power and if you get something more powerful than that, the durability will be little. The H7 halogens tinted blue, that dye is a coat, with use it begins to burn. When looking for a led, you have to be careful with their advertising "it is misleading"... you have to be careful if what they offer you is for both lamps or for each one:
power: 18/25/36/50 w (each or the sum of both) lumens: 9000/12000/14000/36000 each or both….not to fool you with the lumens, the more “W” they have, the more lumens too, but a 36/50W lamp ( each)…they are like the best on the market…..if you see one of 72W, it is most likely the sum of the two, because in general, the cables leave the factory for a consumption of 50/55 W…..if you have any lamps that you did not like, check the previous data…
.And the HID, they are difficult to get nowadays, but there is still something in the market
In the case of the H7 Halogens, the more "brightness" they offer you, they warn you that the durability is lower.... In first-line brands, they write it on the same box (+ brightness....- durability)

Yes probably been using cheaper options rather than better ones. Good info. Thanks.

I'm open to LEDs but they gotta work and they gotta last. What's everyone using for a better LED ? Like I said. The LEDs I've used seem patchy (dark spots).

There is another problem with the led lamps and the S10. In the first place, the halogen H7 lamp is located in an "out of the ordinary" position in the S10 (the tab that in all H7 projectors is located at 12:00.... in the S10 that tab is located at 18 :40)….In a halogen lamp this does not affect….but in an LED, it should be able to be rotated so that the chips are on both sides of the projector. Another problem is the little box that doesn't fit into the projector and the third problem is that an extended cap is needed to fit the cooler…..all problems have solutions….but you have to be aware of them

I've had a pair of Osram Off-Road lights going on five years now. No complaints.

I have noticed that some of the companies selling LEDs are saying the emitters are in the same position as the halogens they replace to keep the focus the same. My Morimoto broke in my XT250 (high/low function stopped working) so I've ordered an Auxito LED and will report the results.

In the super Ténéré the bulbs don’t need to have a hi/lo function as that is built into the head light housing shutter system.
