The stock discs have warped on my S10 after 9,000 miles. I understand that, "your use may vary," but other than heavy weight touring bikes these gave up the quickest. Has anyone found a solid replacement that has provided good performance and life? Thank you.

Very surprising at 9k.

The usual cause is excessive heat build up, from either regular heavy braking from high speed, riding mountainous terrain or maybe the brakes dragging slightly. Close examination of the discs, callipers & pad wear may guide you. Post some pictures if you need opinion.

Personally I would stick with OE, but there are plenty of options out there. BTW, best change the fluid too.

I do all of those things except drag the brake. My friends accuse me of riding too fast, but I accuse them of riding too slow. My friend is a mechanic, working on S10's a good bit and he told me my experience is not uncommon. He is usually a, "stock is better" kind of guy, but he is not impressed with the stock set up either. Will do on the fluid.

Mine are close to worn out too. I’m going to replace them with PFMs when they go. Fantastic disks that I already have on my Zx14r

The front rotors are floating, it's essentially impossible to warp them, they self correct if the pucks are free to wiggle. Water and dust are the enemy of floating rotors. But, you can wreck a rear rotor, though the rear caliper is floating, so the feel should be minimal. My guess is you've seized a puck, might be nothing for it but a replacement.

I remember my '15 Tenere ES developed a warped front rotor much to my surprise and annoyance. I was on a trip to Colorado for the Tenere event back in 2019. Didn't notice it until Ohio. By the time we hit Colorado it was getting pretty hard to ignore Stopped at a Yamaha dealer and the service guy confirmed which one of the two was the warped. I did replace it with a new OEM one. Don't recall the mileage, but I believe it was over 20K at that point.

It was the only rotor that warped in the 4 Teneres I owned. Might be a defect they had in 2015.

My ‘15 model was delivered new with warped front rotors. Very pronounced low speed pulsing as you slowed to a stop. Some back and forth with Yamaha and they eventually replaced them under warranty. They’ve been fine ever since.

Thank you for this. Your experience has encouraged me to remove them and check to see if both are faulty or if it is just one, and to replace with stock parts.
