Is Waze or a similar app available in France? At least around the NYC area and NE USA in general pretty much all the cameras are marked on the map.

Indeed, we have Waze in France.
... and we also have wireless phones, clothes, electricity, and non-steam-powered motorcycles, I swear it's the awful truth

Perhaps you should use it then. Maybe even shift into 6th. :)
Wow !!
Shift into 6th ?
Are you serious ?...
Just like that and without prior psychological intensive training ?...
Will my rear wheel support this brutal orgy of all these extra RPMs ?...
All these questions without answers... :(

Anyway, I'm afraid that my mom would hate to know that I take such risks with my lack of control about barely legal post-combustion high speeds, but thanx for the advice when I'm older I'll sure try... probably...

... and to be a lil' more cheerful about riding in France, there are still some nice big roads not fully "monitored" on which it's still possible to (almost) full throttle in relative serenity and peace of mind :

Amen my brothers, amen :)

Well sure... but so is speeding... Hmmm :)
I think you’ve missed the point.

If you are caught using any kind of speed/safety camera detectors, including POI’s on your mobile phone or SatNav is illegal in France and, if caught, will cause the rider to be prosecuted and have the equipment confiscated and to be have an on the spot fine. If you don’t have the money on your person, then you will be escorted to a cash point.

... and more is coming

From 2020, locating the police or cash machines with Waze or other warning apps will be strickly framed (amendment already voted by the deputies).
It will only last from 2 to 12 hours, and warning zones will not exceed a perimeter of 10 kms.
Operators of applications that do not comply with these new upcoming rules will risk two years imprisonment and 30,000 euros fine.

Welcome to France... :(

No I got the point, but how will you be caught using a nav program on your phone? I mean surely by the time you pull over you will have enough time to hit the home button / close the app?

Generally yes, but sometimes only two eyes and two hands are not always enough to react quickly, especially when riding a motorcycle ;)
